Why can't Codies listen to us

Recommended Posts

While it's true that a LOT of people want those things, they don't make the racing experience any better.  Wouldn't you like to see handling, force feedback, setups, physics, and netcode improved a lot more?  That said, Codemasters are unfortunately not working on those things either - at least not that we know of for F1 2014.

We do have to temper our expectations for F1 2014 though.  The most logical thing for any sports release is to have the game come out at the beginning of the season, as they've said they'll do for F1 2015.  To have no F1 2014 game would have been even more disappointing than what we've seen so far with these "hot laps".  At least we're getting a game with updated car models/drivers and two new tracks.  It's a nice way to keep us (somewhat) satisfied until they have a proper release next year.  Now let's just hope it really is a proper release with LOTS of improvements.

Dude everything is going to be put in F1 2015. The only thing you should be complaining about is the price. I think the game should be sold on consoles for £35 maximum, preferably £30. I'm buying the game on pc since its cheaper and I can run better graphics and better wheel settings. Also it has more value because you can install a lot of mods.

No offence mate not having a dig at you, however those things you mentioned are never likely to happen under Codemasters reign of terror. This is because they market their games to kids, not F1 fans. Thats why seemingly shallow features like podium, formation laps etc would at least go some way towards increasing the immersion without diverging too far from Codies business ethos

Probably because the forum is full of people who seem to think F1 xxxx should be a 100% accurate sim and the chances of pleasing them all is close to zero. So why bother.

Forums are useful for identifying bugs and new features that the entire user base would place a high value on. I respect people with an eye for minor detail, because this can often make the difference in my world. But realistically there is so much that cm could do with the game that the entire user base would be interested in, spending time focusing on the minor stuff is a complete waste to them. I think they should leave this to the modders.

Then they should release a real SDK for us PC users, however this won't happen due to the console market.

...Still, At least we can do what we can, any improvement is appreciated!

After seeing the thread http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/3528/releasing-in-japan-2-weeks-before-everywhere-else#latest  Is it possible that all this staleness, lack of information, and pure ignorance from CM is down to Namco Bandai? After all, before 2013 the games were published by Codemasters, but since 2013 Namco Bandai have been in charge and the fiasco in North America was their fault. Maybe this is the reason for how so much has changed with reference to no one from CM speaking anymore, because they are told not to by Namco Bandai!! This also could be the reason why the game is coming out 2 weeks earlier in Japan than anywhere else in the world. Maybe there is a Japanese forum for the game, and HATTA, T4RG4 and the devs are too busy learning Japanese in order to reply there than have time to talk to us!!!

SDK is great for people on here as it allows them to do the specialist mods they want.

But my guess is that making a SDK available is a bit of a minefield, both from a business licencing perspective and an IP protection perspective. For example, if you designed your software tools from the ground up to allow external parties to develop mods, the tools you would have would have probably clearer distinctions in where they start and finish than tools you would design for internal use within the business.

To me there are definitely two parts to game development. One is the tech design of the engine, and game framework. Then there is the other, which is the laborious graphic representation of the circuits/point to point tracks. Also the entire car modelling is probably a bit of a bind as well. The amount of graphic artist time it takes to do something like a dirt3 track must be phenomenal. This is the sort of stuff it makes sense to crowd source.

To me though banging on about availability of things like SDK is largely pointless. It's obviously a huge decision whether to go down this route within a business. Some businesses decide this is the way to go, others not so. Probably easier on everyone (and more realistic) to go to a system where one of these kits is available rather than try to change a multi million pound businesses fundamental strategy.

@MickeyMoTiOnZ‌
But you need a $2000 PC to apreciate your 4k graphics and mods instead of a $250 console...
Is it really cheaper ?

Next gen consoeles are $400 and you don't need 4k graphics, and thats what will probably make pc gaming cheaper. Everyone will be on that 4k hype!

And these consoles can't even run games properly at  60 fps and 1080p. They usually have to go with 30fps and 1080p or drop the resolution and keep the 60 fps.

F1 xxxx SHOULD be a 100% accurate sim. Theres no reason why casual gamers should be turned off a realistic representation of F1 with driver aids and AI difficulty present to adjust the difficulty.

They dont seem to have any passion for the sport at all, they should feel honoured to bring F1 into the loungerooms of hardcore fans and newcomers alike, unfortunately they seem more preoccupied in making easy money off casual gamers who dont know better and hardcore F1 fans who will buy the game regardless due to our infatuation with the actual sport

Not true. Halo: TMCC runs smooth as silk at 60FPS on 1080p. No reason (except for pure lack of effort, or laziness) why games can't do that.

I know why and I've been saying this for a while now. It's because they only care about the money, it's just so blantly obvious. They could put more effort in to making each years games better than the previous, they could repair the nasty glitches that have plagued each and every game since 2010, they could hire more staff... So why don't they? Because that all costs money and they'd rather do a shoddy job of making the game and ship it out half baked, maximum profits for them and lack of quality for us. They're basically just like EA Games, Ubisoft and Activision, they all started out making really good and quality games, but in the current era all that is a concern for them is money.

Oh, and I would never get my hopes up if I were any of you, not while Steve Hood is the director as the guy is just a toxin to the series, just a money grubbing liar.

I literally laughed out loud when reading this little snippet from this article. Such bullsh** PR crap seeping out of every orifice. This is why I don't trust CM as far as I can. All lies.

“We got off to a strong start with FORMULA ONE but we harbour ambitions to do much more. FORMULA ONE is front of mind at Codemasters and we give it the focus and attention it deserves. We have established close links across the sport and they know that, in Codemasters, they have a great partner.”
