[SOLVED FINALLY] Wheel weight lost after 2 days

Recommended Posts

So i bought a G29 for mostly this game days ago, and this is the second bug i encounter since. Everything was fine for the last two days, nothing changed, then suddenly the wheel weight is gone from the game. Seen it as a common issue, didn't find a solution that works... I reinstalled drivers, geforce experience, whatsoever, not a thing changed..

Yeah, on launch this game felt like the the new one does. After a few weeks of playing, it felt like F1 2015.

If it helps, I run the current branch of GeForce Driver (384.xx) w/o GFX3.x and w/o 3D. I have a parallel install of GFX2.x now so I don't get corrupted recordings any more. There's a tutorial on YT.

I run the latest LGS on my G920. I got a better 3A PSU for the wheel and turned of XHCI support in the UEFI, forcing my wheel to USB2.0. It's at least predictable and doesn't decentre very often (if at all) whereas it used to depending on track.

Thanks for the extensive reply! Funny thing is, i had a crappy Genius Speedwheel for years, played F1 2016 for months, and it was just fine, ever since i have a proper wheel, the aforementioned hits the fan constantly.. I'm on 385.xx drivers, without 3D or GFX. I might check out XHCI, even though i don't have an issue with decentering, as i don't have other ideas. Kind of ridiculous

I finally found the cause of the problem!

Still not sure if it's Driver or Windows, but here are my thoughts
The registry keys for your wheel under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM] get corrupted, there are TWO for me. One sohuld contain like 2 axes, the other like 5, if both shows a lot of axes, things go retarded. Save your registry keys when they work (right click + export), then when they break, just delete the keys, and double click on the file you exported in the previous step. If they are broken, uninstall the driver, delete the keys, (the whole VID_... "folder") restart pc, reinstall driver, and should work

I'll contact both Logitech and Microsoft with this, see if they can say something.

Any of you guys having issues with using Flashback when using the steering wheel? I can't use flashback, the replay opens and then I press F1 and the flashback doesn't work, although the F2 works

I reinstalled Windows and got mine feeling great again.

And I mean a proper scorched earth install, fdisk, the lot. I let W10 (15063.540) install all the drivers it wanted.
It plumped for 384.94 for the GTX970 via Windows Update
It installed a Realtek Sound Driver (v6.0.1.8228)
It installed an Intel Chipset Driver (v10.1.1.38)
It installed an Intel ME Driver (v11.7.0.1032)
My G920 was detected as XBoxController (PID0261), had to install LGS 8.96.91 to get it as G920 (PID0262)
I redownloaded Steam Setup
I reinstalled F1 2017 from a Steam Backup of v1.5

The test is MP mode in about 30 minutes.

I probably achieved what you did the hard way @Koli0842

Edit: In MP I had bad stuttering during the race. Everyone else thought the lobby was pretty stable otherwise. So, not that impressed.

@IceManRs13  It all works fine for me, the only iffy thing is double inputs when trying to use the dial
@steviejay69  It might sound like a hard way, but i use my PC for all sorts of work stuff aswell, so reinstalls are way too tedious for me  It's great you have it working again, now let's hope it stays good!
