Hacking/Cheating in Timetrial and online

Recommended Posts

Back in F1 2016 you were able to edit the gamefiles so that your car had more grip and downforce. That led to ridiculously fast lap times and usually the first 10 - 30 people on the leaderboards were using modded files. (on purpose).
You were also able to use mods online racing against other players. It is just frustrating to see not being able to beat certain times because of that.

Is there any plan to fix this problem so that we can have clean online-racing and a clean timetrial leaderboard?

We have a number of new fixes this year to combat this kind of cheating. You may have seen Lee Mather discuss our 'dedicated PC team' in interviews, and this is one of the areas they've looked at.

This is awesome to hear because in the past we have had to crash our own anti cheating app for league racing.. Thanks for the information Britpoint.

Seems like we're back to outrageously fast TT-laptimes again. Does that mean cheating in TT and online is possible again? If so, why?

Probably possible, but the system seems to "ban" the players after those times. Not entirely sure though. Maybe somehow they avoided the system.
