F1 2017 : Where is SLIPSTREAM?!

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISMENT, its a really IMPORTANT question that I am curious about!

As I have been watching F1 2017 I realized that there is a huge „lack of slipstream”. I have even created a video just because of that. Ofcourse, I dont want that OP slipstream back from F1 2016, but you must see that its not enough. Please watch this video, dont have to like, dont have to subscribe, and tell me your opinion because if its not good, WE NEED TO WARN CODEMASTERs.

So the question: WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS SLIPSTREAM IN F1 2017?

Thanks for your time,

Daniel

+ its only the pre release version of the game, and a huge pacth will come on the first day so hopefully this whole video will be unnecessary.

I think it is even more powerful than what we've seen so far in real life, but given it's just a game, to me it's perfect like it is now. If you want only drs and slipstream driven overtakes, go back to F1 2016.

The (lack of) slipstream is pretty realistic this year, given what we've seen in the real races so far. It's been way OP in the game for years.

I love the lack of slipstream.
And if Codemasters change it and return to the OP one from yesteryear, I will come down to their offices and leave a very angry worded letter.

Guys its not a hating video, I absolutely love this game so far, but you should watch it till the end where I compare it to the real life, and I say it that there is no need to change back like it was in F1 2016, becase in F1 2016 it was very very OP and bad.
But here, I think we would need just a little bit more, but on the other hand multiplayer when the cars are equeal would be better than Renault vs Mercedes.

Since wind isn't a thing in the f1 game, this is about perfect. If there was the possibility of a headwind and we still had no slipstream when there was one, than there is an issue. But rly this is ok.

I have talked with my friend as well who has already tried multiplayer in the game with AOR guys, and he told me that in multipalyer slipstream is better. As I have told in the video equeal cars will be surealy better, and they are, but the calculations show that Torro Rosso is slower in the straight than Force India by about 5-7 km/h so if we count that in, we are just fine. I maybe "hyped this video" but I just wanted to show you so please dont treat it negativly! :)

Lack of slipstream, more dirty air.

Can make people more frustrating but that is real life.

Think about the lack of overtakes in Australian GP and Russian GP.

Less overtaking doesn't mean worse racing.

@OP I agree it's lower, but it's realistic for once. Earning overtakes will be so much more rewarding now.

It might actually be possible this year to be faster but get stuck behind the car in front. Although it might sound boring to some for me it means a problem you have to think your way around. Ie add an extra stint but be free to push with faster laps. Staying out might not be the best way anymore

Yes i like it that way! We were screaming about slipstream in the game since years! The slipstream was not at allll realistic just look ib real life how difficult to pass even with drs and this year its even harder to pass so codies did incridible job just stick to it @DaniBereznay @jennyannem

I actually like the lack of slip stream, You really have to bide your time now when you are stuck behind someone. Could provide for more intense battles that could strech out to multiple laps as opposed 2016 where it was a constant back and forth in the DRS zones.

Force India is better than Toro Rosso. That is why you can't catch them easily with a slipstream. This is realistic.

It is a very good thing that Codemasters fixed the exaggerated slipstream from the 2016 game. On tracks with long straights it was easily possible to lap a second or more faster per lap than if you had no car to follow and it made overtaking too easy. On the flip side once you past the car you were so easily following it then became impossible to get away from them and was often the cause of incidents between myself and the AI as they tried to get back past! It was one of the things that ruined the single player experience slightly for me.

From what I have seen of the 2017 game overtaking looks much more challenging, particularly if you choose to drive the Mclaren Honda!

Guys you are right! I will also love this, with equal cars I am sure it will be great. You know, I was only fustrated because it was always a Renault vs Mercedes.

I also think that slipstream is fine in F1 2017. For the first time in an F1 game I think :D

Exactly. But people may need time to get used to it.

So that there is almost No slipstream (I never notice any to be honest) is normal? This is Not Some sort of bug?

I think it is balanced well this year, there is slipstream but it's not OP like it was in 2016, much more realistic and makes it more challenging to overtake now.

More Downforce, higher drag. Wider cars with wider tyres increase frontal area. Phat tyres also lead to higher rolling resistance.
So it seems they've gotten this pretty accurate.

Hopefully in future they re-introduce some more ground effects and reduce reliance on the wings to generate downforce and we'll see more overtaking that way. Get rid of DRS.
