HBAO+ vs. ASSAO

I'm familar with HBAO+, but not ASSAO.  I've researched some, and found adaptive SSAO and accumulative SSAO, but the information is from a developer perspective.  Anyone have any insight as to what the difference is, performance between the two, and which is better for graphic fidelity?  I don't notice any difference between them, but I haven't tried comparing screenshots yet.

ASSAO looks like over saturated occlusion imo, just use HBAO+ because it takes about 1fps compared to ASSAO which takes about 8-10fps extra

I see maybe 1-2 less FPS, and I've now noticed that ASSAO seems to provide better occlusion on the car, but overall the difference on the entire screen seems minimal.  I guess it's one of those "do it because we can" things.
