2017 Resource points

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I am at a point in my Career where I've done everything I wanted to to experience the Single Player portion of the game naturally (done a full season at 25%), and now want to grind out the 75% Upgrades Achievement. I'm not all that interested in playing 10 full seasons "normally" as I'd rather spend my evenings in Multiplayer.

So my question is thus: What is the fastest way to gain Resource Points?

Looking at the settings I think it's the following:
  • Set AI difficulty to 0
  • Start FP1
  • 30 | Do 1 lap of Track Acclimatisation
  • 50 | Do 1 Lap of Tyre Management
  • 50 | Do 1 Lap of Fuel Management
  • 50 | Do 1 Lap of Qualifying Pace
  • Advance to One-Shot Qualifying
  • Get Pole Position
  • Win race (5 Laps)
When I did a test this took about 10 minutes total and I got roughly 500 resource points (or 50 a minute).
This is excluding 1st driver bonus as I haven't gotten that yet.

Ive had f1 2017 for 3 days now amd im at the Hungarian gp season 1 at mclaren.

My first point is I've done 3 engine upgrades and I'm still miles away from Saubers engines. And I didn't like that.

My second point is that I feel you don't earn enough points to upgrade the mclaren. For example in real life teams bring car upgrades every race and engine upgrades around every 5 races.

In my opinion I feel like you should get more than 50 RP for completing one practice program I think it should be doubled or at least 75RP to make it slightly easier to bring upgrades regularly like in reality.

That or forecasters could bring RP packages for example pay £10 to get 15,000RP or something like that.

Or a quick buy in to buy all the quality upgrades and discount upgrades.

What are people's thoughts on this.
They should have a slider for resource points too. Allowing you to adjust what  total rpare allocated per programme. Giving the user the choice. I know they try being realistic but I don't have time to play 8 seasons with Renault to get them competitive

im a Red Bull and my engine was like 3rd bottom where as my other department were 3rd or 4th im now at spa in my 2nd season and have 8 engine upgrades taking me just 2nd in the engine department,i also have a couple in aeros  and 1 in chassis along with a good few durability ,you also end up getting 3000 bonuses.its obviously going to take longer with Mclaren or Sauber but thats the point and its not like you will have every unlock after 10 seasons or you would be driving a ballistic missile.

Yes i know hahaha,  but i see the graphics and i have better engine than renault sauber haas....and then on straight they pass me like a plane me using drs and they dont.......hahaha
How are you using DRS and them not?? Sounds fishy to me...
I think getting the best take off from the corner before drs has alot to do with it.

My thoughts are screw that because thats just pay to win and thats what is wrong with games today,If you cant handle having to build up your car then just go mercedes or ferrari

People like you cause company's like Activision to rinse normal gamers with micro DLC . The career is designed to last so stop complaining and get on with it.

This hasn't got anything to do with resource points but has anyone noticed the gearing of the mclaren I was watching quali today and the mclaren. Shifts In to 8th at 290kph but in the game it shifts into 8th at 275kph. Just seems strange how forecasters didn't look at the gear ratios of each car because they are fixed for the season.

I think resource points you win each race is good enough, the problem isnt it. The point is all improves doesnt works. Im with McLaren seasson 4 with all engine development complete. 3th best engine, 3th best aerodynamics and 4th best chassis and.....im still the slowest on straight hahaha i just can pass saubers on straight without DRS haha. They should improve that...cause ist imposible to win a race with McLaren...( i play 90 dif).

I play on the same difficulty it's just impossible I'm on the second season and I've got one power upgrade left and I'm still super slow. There safe I toy needs to be a patch on the upgrade system.  The lower teams should receive the bigger performance gain. And the top teams the least performance gain. Because at the moment they all earn the same performance

Have you tried upgrading the drag in the downforce department ? That'll make quite a big difference for top speed as well. I'm at the end of season 2 with Toro Rosso and when looking at the graph, the top teams are definitely not developing as fast, all the midfield teams have closed in and I'll pass Red Bull by season 3 to be the third fastest team at this rate once I get to the major upgrades in a couple of races.

I have tried but it seems to make no difference. My top speed doesn't see. To have improved as much and I have one power upgrade left.
During this weekend I heard Martin bridle talk about Honda being 60bhp down on mercedes. And when you think about it. The power upgrade unly gets you to around 55bhp I haven't unlocked the ultimate upgrade for power. So in reality you'll never be able to be as powerful as mercedes if they can make the same performance gains. I mean I still get passed by Saubers when I have Drs and they done. It just feels they need to change the performance gain from each upgrade from team to team. So Honda would receive a lot more horsepower from each upgrade so for minor mercedes gain say the 4.93 and Honda would gain around double that as they are further behind.
From what I've upgraded and looked at if all the teams had every upgrade they would be in the exact same positions as at the start. With the same performance gaps.

So hopefully they can patch that. And also update the car performance relative to what they are currently in real life as the Honda engine was pre season power output well it felt like it and even with all my engine upgrades I'm still one of the slowest.

Can anyone from Codies confirm if we can actually get McLaren to the top of the R&D chart? It seems in my game that each team is developing at a similar rate so no team has made up any ground on any other team.

Ive compared Mclaren with all engine R&D completed and Mclaren without any engine R&D same setup and
both of them have the same maximun speed at the end of straight, same speed in corners and same brake points so....i confirm R&D in F1 2017 doesnt work , only serves to keep us entertained and happy thinking that they work

Oh god no. Maybe it's a big the doesn't show performance gain. But even still the lower teams should receive more performance gain than the higher teams

The Honda upgrade glitch has been confirmed by codemasters. So everyone who picked mclaren might see an unbelievable boost in power when the glitch is sorted haha

Personally I preferred the career mode last year than this year. I race 100% distance and just don't have the time to spend several seasons getting the McLaren anywhere decent ...  as I doubt I'll get through more than 3 full seasons in a year. On another thread I wondered if a scaleable career would be possible. At the start, set a slider from 3-10 seasons and then the game pro rata's the resource points accordingly.

Another good option would be an "simulated development" option. Maybe it would only pay out at 250 points per race weekend or something, but the option to skip the practice laps would be good...

Also, on my first career (before I realised McLaren was too slow) I was gifted 2000 points at the start. When I started again as Ferrari, I was gifted 3000 points at the start? Why - if anything the lower teams should be given more!!!
