[BUG] Gearbox wear 50% = lost gears

Recommended Posts

Hello

If my gearbox wear hits 50% I am losing gears. Which is way too soon imho. I think such breakups should occur at the end of the lifespan (80-90% wear).

That force me to swap gearbox every three races and getting grid penalties which is really annoying and imho unrealistic...

I agree that it seems a little early to be honest. 50% is rather low.

I lost 4th gear, which is the most important one, in Bahrain for a couple laps.

Just didn't expect it to have such issues so soon, and also I didn't expect to go tokyo drift through the last corner, I almost crashed my car because of the sudden gear skip.

50%

it can be, but does not have to....

look at Verstappens engine yesterday, the whole weekend no problems and then in the race after 8 laps boom no power...

Do this gears always fail at 50% with no durability upgrade installed or is there a higher chance a gear will fail? If it's chance than it's not a bug and you were just out of luck.

It's an increased chance, though I imagine the way it's programmed, it will never fail below 50%.

Still, the chance is quite high. I tried 3 sessions with a 55% gearbox and each session I had problems with it. Engineer also calls it highly worn.

Agree, I wanted to make thread about this as well. @jennyannem Every gearbox loses a gear as soon as it reaches 50-55%, making it completely useless from that point and also too predictable. With this balance you'd have to start thinking about changing the gearbox before a race when it's at 40% to avoid the missing gear when you'd expect that to be perfectly fine for a long while.

What teams are you using? I have 2 going McLaren and Ferarri, in my Honda career I went for performance first, my reliability suffered like so many people are complaining about, with Ferarri I opted for reliability and no uprades, I just finished Spain, still on my first Gearbox, 65% wear, yet to lose a gear, gearbox is upgraded tier 2, ICU tier 3, tier 1 and 2 on all other engine upgrades, looks like the reliability upgrades are making a difference. XO, 50% race distance.

Stop crying! Go to the pit and they fix the gear issue. In a race they fix it mostly in a few laps. It's quite rare that a gearbox completely stucks at a gear

Make sure you read those and focus on reliability BEFORE performance.
