We need your reaction Codemasters!

Recommended Posts

We all know F1 2017 is full of bugs and glitches. Many complains on the internet but I personally haven't seen any reactions of Codemasters (correct me if I'm wrong). We need to know when the patch is coming to PS4 and XBox.

So Codemasters, when can we expect the patch?

First off it's been a bank holiday weekend so no one has worked. An estimate on a patch will not be issued at this stage. Bugs have to be assessed, replicated and the cause found. They then have to implement the fix but make sure it doesn't have a knock on affect somewhere else.

Well... all the bugs and glitches are mentioned on this forum. The PC is getting a patch these days, so I don't understand why it's taking this long to get a console patch. There is no use I name all the bugs and glitches here, this forum is full of it. Just go to work Codemasters, we payed 60 Euro's for a broken game. That means work in overtime to get the patch done.

1. Bank holiday weekend
2. Need to make the patch
3. Console patches take time as Sony and Microsoft have to verify them and that takes quite a long time

I wish people would stop being so defensive of the devs, they happily took our money for a game that's not finished.

I like these games but got to ask when was last time you didn't feel like that about F1 game? 2017 is best one I remember and hope that they are going to fix problems and leave good things like they are.

I have all games from codies and I play F1 games since 1997. F1 2017 has so many bugs and glitches.

just to name some:

- Safety Car bugs
- Qualy AI is faster than race AI, which totally destroys the difficulty slider
- worst graphic performance of any game I have on PS4 pro (teatring, textures, clipping, framerate-drops)
- AI is unable to lap other cars and loses more than 5-10 seconds because they need 3 laps to overtake!!!
- slow cars pull abruptly to one side and creating a mess in the back field
- cars become transparant
- Sky is clipping, dancing and so on

So how can someone please tell me that we need to be ok with all of this and wait for a patch? If you are not able to deliver on time, than delay the game 1 or 2 months, because that's what's happening now until the patch comes out BUT with our money in their pockets. I've always supported codies but this year I'm so fed up with the whole game. The more I play it the more bugs I see. There must have been some quality control. I mean they even had beta testers! Nobody noticed the poor performance on PS4? Nobody? Nobody noticed all of the other glitches? I won't say the are not working hard, because they do and I aprreciate it, but you cannot delivery an unfinished product!

I see ourselfs waiting until November and until the end of the season to finally play the game the way we should have starting on 25.08.2017. I mean Williams for example is performing bad for months, but hey...let's make them great and be the forth fastest team! Really? That should have been addressed for the day one patch...it should be adjusted for every track after every session. It's called live update and is used by almost every sports game out there.

Very disappointed and I will leave it in the shelf for now. I enjoy the pure racing in F1 2017 but all of the other stuff just kills the game for me.

You guys need to stop it with pharsing like that.

If there are bugs and glitches, it certainly isn't "unfinished"

Adding DLC to a game is not "robbing" anyone or "selling half a game for full price" either as some people like to say.

The multiplayer part is not playable and there for unfinished. They sold me a unfinished game.

A software is not finished, when it is not running correctly on a particular hardware. In this case, the game is not running correctly on the PS4 pro. It's a fact and I can live with some tearing here and there and some clipping but it is full of it and the competition on the Pro is not even close. I mean the sky, which was never a problem in F1 2015 and 2016 keeps stuttering and dancing...THE SKY! Therefore in my opinion it is an unfinished game, because it does not use the hardware as it should or it has flaws that needs to be corrected.

I'm happy for you that you have a great time. I simply excepted more for something I put money aside for months.

If you buy a TV and afterwards you recognise that you the picture is not as smooth as it should, will you keep it? Because maybe they will update the firmware? No, you expect a full finished and working product! You will not accept 80-90 % of it, not even 95 % of it. Same goes for games, but we are used to patches and so on, so why bother...just keep waiting and waiting until we finally get the equivalent of our money.

I got F1 2017 yesterday and im greatly dissapointed, you dont release a game then fix it, you fix it then you release it, its like you released an unfinished product and was aware what mess it was but sweept it under the rug in the hopes that no one would notice, shame on you Codemasters for releasing a game in this state, you should live up to your name instead in future releases... "Codemasters", and for gods sake fix this mess.

I play the game till Friday on PS4 and I never see any one of these bugs. I don't play online, but offline is great.
As MSC2k13 mentioned and i can confirm all of them except one that i havent seen myself, plus the most prominent bug (if you could call it that) of them all is engine and gearbox wear if you run anything less than 100% race lenghts in the career, which makes it virtually impossible to enjoy the career, someone at Codemasters miscalculated by a large margin when setting up the numbers.

Some of those is just what you get when people with terrible connection play. That crap doesn't happen when you play with people from your region at least. People need to realize that this game still utilizes listen servers. Let me host a game and suddenly put heavy load on my internet and everyone will be screwed.

Sudden heavy load on your hard drive or sudden frame drops will also mess up a lot. Considering many people have framedrops apparently, I'm not surprised.

I've played both online and offline (currently in FP2 at Canada in torro rosso) I personally found the only issue with online to be the DSQ after crossing the line, it's annoying but doesn't dampen the experience too much as the racing was really good and you can now actually go side by side into corners and make some contact without spinning. The wear on the engine parts for me is all fine and I'm expecting to get a few penalties along the way. Overall the AI are much better at racing and I'm able to enjoy the chase and the fight for points a lot more than last year.

Everyone who says it's a bank holiday and use that as a defence for the dev's etc but who chose this date to release the game? Oh that's right they did!  Guess what they did it on purpose as well ... it gives people time to play the game and feedback the glitches and for them decide what glitches to prioritise.  I'm not a fan of this philosophy the same as most on here!

The original "Update: 29/08" post provides no useful information - it basically only says:

...We're working on things, and we'll let you know when we have something to let you know about...

As a software dev myself  (not games), people need to calm down. I'm sure they will be working hard to fix all the bugs. I know I do as I hate having bugs in my work. Also sometimes release dates are not controlled by the devs. I guess in the games industry even more so. There would have been a huge amount of moaning from the same people here complaining about an "unfinished game" if the game was delayed to fix the bug first.

Sometimes things are so broken that they are beyond fixing, and I wonder is this the case here? We will see. This game is so bug ridden it's beyond a joke, pages upon pages of complaints. Glad I didn't buy it, but am interested to see if they can fix it. If they do I will happily buy it, but with so much patching required we know that patches can introduce more bugs.
What's so frustrating is that this game got such fantastic reviews, the best ever for a CM F1 game, and it thoroughly deserved it. Patch 1.03 just broke the game so badly, I wish there was a way that CM could remove it and work from the review builds again.
I really would love to buy this game, it seems like it was a diamond (review build)  but CM managed to turn it into a lump of coal (patch 1.03).
