Thinking about buying a wheel...

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Fanatec wheels?!  I've been using the thrustmaster 150 a while now and have been thinking about upgrading to the next level. I want the F1 wheel.

I could never play a serious racing game without a wheel and pedals again.

Fanatec probably isn't the best idea for a first wheel, especially if you fork out all that cash for their gear and then decide you don't like using wheels. That being said fanatec is top notch and will be changing over from the thrustmaster TX to the new fanatec DD wheelbase when it comes out later this year.

To be honest,  whether you go Logitech or thrustmaster doesn't really matter. From a non biased consumer point of view. In the end you have a good wheel at a decent price point that you will enjoy. Personally I went with a thrustmaster tx leather edition simply because I preferred the esthetics and the option to change out the wheel, pedal and shifter if I want to try a different style.

But i have never met anyone who bought a wheel,  Logitech or thrustmaster,  and wished they never did it.

ive have both a Thrustmaster  T300RS & a Logitech G29 at home.
Both are fine wheels, but i definitely  prefer the Thrustmaster T300RS. It has more wheel weight, has better (more precise) force feedback. its belt driven so feels smoother than the G29. most annoying thing about the G29 though i find is the rattling feel and sound of the weel when going over kerbs for example..  it sounds and feels a bit toyish. next to that ive added a f1 rim a metal shifter and pro pedals to the thrustmaster.. wich is all  impossible for a G29 (except for a toyish plastic shifter)
