Congrats to coders for IA behavior

Recommended Posts

I would to say congrats to Codemaster IA coders because a big improvement was made on the IA behavior respect the human player.
Some examples:
  • I'm not constantly rammed and pushed by opponents behind, overral the IA looks like has more sense of what's going on around.
  • Big improvement is on the race start, I remember that F1 2016 was a disaster especially on some tracks (i.e. Monaco)
I usually play on SP mode, so for sure I've noticed a major difference respect the previous version.

Yet there are many other issues introduced on F1 2017 (SC, pits strategy) but these are already open on so I won't discuss on this post.

Keep on the good work Codemasters!

usually you can still get 6-8 places when breaking  really hard at the start in the first corner.Imo AI overtaking and position defending is still weak, you can outbreak them too easily and even if they get passed you they wont brake late to hold their position...

They race a lot better, still a few issues with hitting you from behind, still don't feel confident when on a straight and multiple AI cars are trying to pass you.

Sometimes when the AI is clearly faster they still want to overtake on parts of the tracks where it's too dangerous or simply impossible (e.g. Hungary turn 5/6) which often or not results in a crash. Other than that the AI have been really improved and racing them is a lot of fun!

Dear Codies:

I have raced on all platforms and even in real life. I know it's hard to get A.I. right. I know most gamers will whine because they treat A.I. like they are not human. I know you put a crap ton of work into them this year. And I am 100% sure that when I race against them, I sometimes think I'm in a league race (I have been in F1 league since 2010). These A.I. are a masterpiece. Any small timing errors are just dicta. What you created (until I see pCARS2) is the gold standard of A.I.

Have to agree on this one, apart from some issues with the simulated times and their strategies, on track the AI is awesome. I've had some incredible battles with AI, going wheel to wheel for multiple corners before they actually make a move stick round the outside. Combined with their great pace on ultimate and the difficulty slider I'm really enjoying career and I'm usually not a fan of single player actually, so great job.

I agree. AI this year is great and the career mode has me hooked. Sure there's some hiccups but overall id give it a 8.5/10! Gj codie.

Imo its not the right way. As an example: I'm driving with AI on 74. Thats the right speed for me to have a fair competition. But... I would like to have a bit more "aggressive" AI. They should take the inner line to block me and make it harder to overtake. And they should try to overtake me not only when they are 100% sure that they can catch me. But I cant change AI to 90 or 100 because then they are too fast. Best way would be to have 2 different slider for AI ;-)

Take a look at the AI behaviour!! :-)
When was GP4 released? I guess 2002...

And by the way the Marshals who run on the track to pick up the car (a Jordan?!)
