First Race Issues/Bugs and Improvements

Recommended Posts

Entered my first Career mode race, PC using Haas at 95 difficulty. Ran into many issues right away, doing a 100% race.
[Issues & Bugs]
1. A Safety Car came out, I maintained the VSC speed until I hit the start finish line, then went full speed to catch up. However due to Kimi's god mode speed he was already with the safety car at like turn 7 and I was penalized for not catching up within 30 seconds, I was going full speed and didn't even get close.
2. Hit lap traffic pretty late in the race, the car was getting blue flags but remained on the racing line. When I caught up to the car (within 3 car lengths), the car suddenly swerved right and left went threw a fast turn and then slammed on the brakes right in front of me. Completely unpredictable, they should remain at full speed threw corners and then get off the racing line and slow down in straights.
3. Pit Lane with Pit Assist, dumps you full speed into turn one regardless of oncoming traffic. An AI car slammed into me from behind within 1/2 a second of getting control of the car.
4. Game repeatedly dumped me to the main menu instead of advancing between sessions.
5. I got lapped by Kimi god mode and so I knew I was going to be doing 1 less lap so I switch to rich fuel. Jeff kept telling me I was going to run out of fuel because he was still talking like I was going to do 58 laps instead of 57. Which by the way, I struggled to qualify 16th (which I expected running a 1st race in career mode using a Haas), but easily finished the race 5th. The disparity between AI qualifying and race pace is disgusting.
6. The AI seem to be perfectly happy sitting behind you if you stay on the racing line and are doing decent lap times. Repeatedly had Verstappen and Ricciardo catch up to me after pitting, 1-1.5 seconds per lap, but then just sit behind me for 10 laps straight without even attempting to pass me. Watching the replay, they just got behind me and followed me around, the only time the tried to pass me is if I missed an apex and went off the racing line even though they were clearly faster.
7. Yet at the same time, once an AI gets next to you or decides it is going to try to overtake you, it is ruthless and will knock you right off the track.

[Improvements]
1. There is no benefit besides the multiplier to using no assists and there is no way of learning in the game without just removing an assist. For example traction control, I have seen people prove on youtube they can run within 1/10th of a second with no traction control or medium traction control. There should be a speed penalty for using traction control. Also, there should be some indicator in the HUD showing you when traction control is active, this way you can learn and try to complete laps without activating and feel comfortable eventually removing the assist.
2. Fuel Consumption, the game constantly shows you a 'Laps left' for fuel, but this number just barely comes close to what you actual do. Even doing the Race Strategy practice program, it doesn't seem to effect what is displayed for you laps estimate in your car. Also, show the actual KG of fuel left in practice so you can see what you are using.
3. Just in general provide more information, lap times, tire wear, fuel consumption in some kind of summary page in Practice. You give us these adjustments to the car but provide us very little information to tell if a change was better or worse other than if you could maybe run 1 lap faster. Which often when i make a change the difference is within 1/10th and that could literally be just taking a corner or two better in a worse setup than the better one without realizing it.

Basically my suggested improvements come down to: Give us information so we can improve with the game.

Almost forgot. There was a wreck around lap 10, local yellow only. However there was a tire left on track for the rest of the race. Can you imagine a real race not being stopped if there was a whole rim and tire just sitting in the middle of the road?
