Fuel loads glitch

Recommended Posts

I don't know about anyone else but when I do a qualifying session in free practice (100% practice), and in qualifying (short qualifying) I put in the minimum fuel in, in free practice it default loads you with about 14 laps of fuel when doing qualifying session. Default Qualifying loads vary at about 5/6 laps in my experience, but I put in minimum fuel to do 1 lap stints. But when I look at fuel load on the HUD when driving it changes back to around 14 laps of fuel for practice and about 6 for qualifying. It's quite annoying when you want to make the car as light as possible and you get given 13 laps worth of extra weight

You are using practice as qualifying simulation. Most drivers might prefer to drive familiarisation laps or test compound wear rates.

You're going to have to suck this one up I'm afraid.

I don't agree with that - Qualifying programme is part of the practice sessions, I see no sense in doing it with extra weight. And then especially in Q I would like to decide on my own whether to drive out of the pit with fuel for 3 or 10 laps...

I'm not quite happy with how Fuel is handled as a part of the car setup anyway. 1. just changing the amount of fuel already counts as "different car setup" when it comes to achieving team goals, 2. I'd prefer to choose the amount of fuel at the moment of leaving the pit, without having to open car setups each time (not sure but I think in earlier versions of F1 games this was possible)... But then, these are just minor problems :-)

Is anyone else seeing what Dugmore92 is reporting? If this was a thing I'd expect to have heard more about it by now.

Dugmore92 can you get me a video of the issue please? I've changed fuel in P / Q and not seen this problem.

I think I misunderstood your post, you mean the fuel load is defaulting AFTER you've changed it in the garage before leaving?

Default fuel load>change>go to track>car fuel is default again when on track?

If so, this is the 'lost setup' bug like the wings defaulting back to 6 during a session.

I think what he is trying to say is, he is choosing the amount of fuel he wants and is starting the qualifying programme which overrides the fuel selected in order to have enough fuel for 3 laps.
I don't think this is a bug.

Hey guys, I can't get video footage. Basically I am selecting minimal fuel in car set up, then opening the qualifying practice session, I start flying lap and go back to my default fuel load. Same with qualifying, just happened at Canada (in practice not qualifying) again to me earlier, although I must add that it's not every time in qualifying, fuel loads worked fine for qualifying at Canada, not for practice though.

maybe it isn't a bug maybe it is the session overriding it but I just wonder why it would do that. You do a practice qualifying session with 15 laps of fuel so it says to get 13th you need a 1:20.3 (just random numbers for argument sake) but your benchmark is invalid cause of the massive amount of extra weight

The minimum amount of fuel is 3.3 laps. I did runs in practice driving out and using flying lap at Canada in GP mode and the fuel stayed at 3.3 each time. The fuel setting was retained in qualifying.

I watched your tests but the problem I was having was doing the Qualifying Session Programme in the Practice sessions, the fuel does stay the same as you set it too if you was to "free roam" in practice but when you open the Qualifyig Programme in practice it sets your fuel to default

The fuel in qualifying practice programme is not a bug, it's working as intended. You can not manually choose how much fuel you want to go into any practice programme. You will always be given a certain amount of fuel, no matter what you chose in the setup. The game gives you enough fuel for the maximum amout of laps possible in the programme, for example the quali programm has max 3 flying laps, so it gives you enough fuel to do all 3 laps + to get back to the pits. it's all working as intended.

EDIT: but another thing with fuel load: when you choose to go on a flying lap(no practice programm started, just going on track from the cockpit-view) the fuel that should be burned on the way from the pits to where you take control of your car is way to less.

Okay thank you for that, I just don't understand why that's a thing. I get if it's intended that way and not a bug fair enough, but doing the practice qualifying programme you are trying to set yourself a benchmark of what time you can achieve to know if you're competitive for the place you're targeting. If you set a 1:20 and you're below your target 6th place, the game says you'll need 1:18 (just random figures for the sake of argument) for qualifying, you head into qualifying and end up getting 1:18 easily. It works if you're aiming for a 3 lap qualifying stint but realistically a 3 lap stint in F1 is pretty rare in dry conditions. You should have the option to change to 1 hot lap worth of fuel plus flying and inward. And others, like you're able to change tyres to something other than what's recommended. I'm not saying this is a terrible game breaking thing because it isn't but I would just like the choice of it, after all the aim of qualifying is to go as fast as possible (whilst leaving yourself some durability for the race). But it doesn't answer the question for qualifying, maybe it was a one off bug
