When you're in a Lobby you can view the Player Stats screen which contains all of this information.

Thanks, that took a lot of effort  :)

I've written a full guide here for anyone else that wants to try: https://www.trueachievements.com/a239132/another-lap-achievement

If you're not already at Rank 40+ I would advise against doing this right away; you won't have enough time before the reset, which could happen as early as tomorrow morning. You're best off waiting for the reset and starting fresh.

I've done some calculations to see how much XP I'll need to get to Rank 50 (I'm currently at Rank 30).

If the increase in XP required per Rank is consistent then I believe it'll take around 614,000 XP to get to Rank 50.
  • At 15,000 XP per hour that's about 41 hours of Public Multiplayer.
  • At 20,000 XP per hour that's about 21 hours of Public Multiplayer.
Assuming the reset comes on Monday that's a significant challenge no matter what way you put it; I think 5 Lap races (15,000 XP/hour) would be out of the question at this point.
I may be misunderstanding this, but are you saying that (41 x 15,000) is the same as (21 x 20,000)? If so, this isn't correct - it needs to be closer to 31 hours at 20,000.

The star is a byproduct, the real goal is the Achievement itself and the journey towards it.

I like to get all the Achievements in a game I play because it allows me to experience and become proficient at everything a game has to offer. I'm a goal-oriented person and when I decide to take on a task I like to do it well.

Getting to Rank 50 requires a player to not only take part in many races, but also be proficient at them. That means being relatively fast, having the ability to avoid potential crashes, knowing how to attack and defend a position cleanly etc.. Yes, it's "just a star", but that star represents a challenge to become a better driver, one that can be both a formidable and enjoyable opponent whenever they appear in your Public Multiplayer Lobby. At least that's what I believe Codemasters' intention behind the inclusion of the Achievement was at least.

I don't care for the number or the star, both are getting reset in a few days anyway, but I do care for the increased level of experience and driver skill I may have gained from undertaking this challenge. If you're on Xbox and you see me online you're welcome to join; hopefully I give you a good race.

That star is actually pretty cool. Does it appear next to your name or anywhere others can see it?

And it says about XP and milestones being reset and getting more stars. Do you have to go from 0 to 50 again to get another star?

It appears next to your Rank in Lobbies.

When you hit Rank 50, your Rank becomes 1*. If you get up to 50 again I presume it'll reset to 1** and so-on.

This is normally called "hitting Prestige" in First-Person Shooters.

If they are going to reset the ranks as well, they could also change it so that all multiplayer races count towards the require XP. There's no reason only public races can count.
And of course, having reach rank 25, is has now been a complete waste of time.
Can't wait to buy 2018 /s
