Pace compared to AI since 1.6 Patch Ps4

Recommended Posts

I play on ps4 on the controller and on 100 ai difficulty. Since the 1.6 patch it feels like the ai have got slower and i dont know why before the patch i was usually matching my teammate or within about 2 tenths but now after the 1.6 patch im about 1 second quicker. I have tested at multiple tracks and the gap to my teammate is mostly the same at each track. Has anyone else got this problem or is it just me?

And here i was, thinking that i magically became faster all of a sudden...

I played on 103 difficulty and before 1.6 that was just the right difficulty for me. But as of today i've upped the AI to 105 because on 103 i suddenly started outqualifying my teammate by 0.7sec where before i was around 0.1-0.3sec slower than him in Qualy.

Still not so much of a problem for me, cause i could turn the slider up, but i understand if there are some insanely fast drivers where 110 was first perfect but now it might be too easy for them.

EDIT: I'm also playing on PS4, but i suppose PC & X1 users might have the same "issue"

PS4
1.6
Thrustmaster t300 f1 wheel
25% career Renault
80% difficultly

I can JUST get some 'optimal' in the programs, then qualify in 8th - 13th, race im fighting for 3rd - 5th and notice on the long straights like the back one in China, even if a red bull has drs behind me they dont gain much ground, pre 1.6 they would be up the inside at the hairpin. I think while trying to fix the scripted A.I quali times theyve lowered their quali and race pace prob 1/2 second too much. @F1Support  i know its hard to get it spot on when trying to rush out the patches, but at least you're trying. Any way we could get info on how you lowered the scripted times? By how much? Can it be slightly raised for patch 1.7?

I just did a race in Canada on 95 in my stock McLaren and i qualified 8th. Finished 9th.

Seems like it got a little easier. Gonna up it to 100 for the next race and see.

I experienced it too. The problem is that it wasn't reported in patch notes. Maybe there's a logic behind it (match the AI for both modern and classic cars, get real life times on 110%). Who knows...

I don't think it is related to simulated lap times. Race pace and one shot qualify is changed too.

Honestly i would suggest to change the sliders. Times are balanced between the sessions so i'm ok with it (unless there are complaints by 110% users).

I'm scared about the possibile step back. If it ain't broke (for 110%), don't fix it...

Canada is by far the easiest track in the game AI-wise. Only Monaco comes close.

Not really feeling it. The actual pace of the AIs hasn't changed for me at all on 110%, and I've done several one-shot quali tests and a couple of race tests in career and GP mode to test that out on multiple tracks. So far it really does seem to just be the simulated times.

You might have reached one of the easier tracks in the game (Monaco, Canada, arguably China), which is skewing your perception. At worst, it's very possible that they may have tweaked some of the individual AI times on tracks where they were very clearly broken, such as Bahrain where their lap times were 1.4s faster than real life.

i was on 92 difficulty but after patch im up to 96 and should. go.more.at first i thought its because of the RD development and car became easier to drive but im too much faster than my teammate but i wasnt before patch. So i think something has changed in qualy but race pace seems to be quite the same

Practice, qualify and race are well balanced post 1.06. I'm scared of threads like this, they give bad informations to the devs. Times are balanced.

We can adjust the slider if it's too easy/hard. Everything is ok unless 110% players have problems. But it doesn't seem to be the case...

Its definitely much more balanced since 1.06.

Im just trying to find the difficulty that suits my driving and puts me in a realistic position with a stock McLaren ( ie fighting for 15thish).

Yeah, for sure it also have happened to me. AI seems so slow at racing pace after 1.6 patch. From 0.5s slower I went to 1.0s faster them my teammate on qualifying. I had to increase difficult by 8 points (from 72 to 80). But I don't know yet how things are going to be since I should play a set of FP, qualy and Race to check if AI is challenging again.

I do a pro career with Sauber on PC, so 110% AI and no assists, and obviously I cant change settings or difficulty during the season either, as I know about (not that I would anyway).

What I feel so far, even though I cant remember what track I did on what patch.

Australia felt pretty spot on about difficulty (beat Ericsson by 0,02 in qual).
China was a bit too easy (beat Ericsson by 0,5. But it was the bug about end of session everyone improved by 1 sec, so ended up 0,5 behind, but in race I ended up beating him with 30 sec and 1 sec faster laptime as final stint I had softer tires then him, so I guess I was 0,5 faster in qual and race).
Bahrain was a pain and only track I actually used like 2 days (not full days) on setup, and it have been so far only track I struggled at, as I ended up not even manage to do the qual program at all, 0,250 too slow, with a 1.32.6 in the Sauber. in qual I was 0,6 off Ericsson with 1,32.072. (Then you see where the pace is at) It was the same difference in the race (only got a lap 0,6 faster then Ericsson in race as I pitted end of race, just to get a faster lap then him to equal the points on that track considering the rivalry.
Russia was a bit difficult as it was mixed conditions in qual and race, but felt it was more or less equal, also Ericsson retired from the race around halfway (I was infront)
Spain is the race I am on atm, only done FP1, but so far at least the practice programs (first 3) have been very easy, think I did fuel and tire programs on first attempt when more or less just cruzing around. All other tracks I have at least needed to make a proper setup and do more attempts to get it perfect, if even managed to get it perfect.

So far after this tracks, I dont see a big problem with the difficulty, except from Bahrain, as thats a track I like and normaly is fast on. And if I remember correct from F1 2016, or maybe a earlier game Bahrain was too easy.

Not sure how important this post is for the topic, but at least you guys can see how difficult it is or could feel on 110%

Same for me. I found Sochi very tricky. In qualify (dry) it can be easy because you can be aggressive. Race is harder because of corner cut penalties. It requires different approaches

What? I was just saying that in qualify you can be aggressive (at worst you lose your lap). In 100% racing without assists and flashback, you only need two kerbs taken aggressively to get a 3 seconds penalty...

Track limits are there for a reason. If you get a warning for track limits then youre effectively cutting the corner. I think they should be strickter on it personally.

I belive you have different rule settings on how stricked they are.
Its as stricked as it can for me, and I dont have any issues with them in qual or race, as already find the limit in practice. For me its basicly the same either I do qual or race. Dont think I even have a singel warning from my races so far.

I have watched some streamers and seen many of them cut like mad without penalties, so the difference in cutting rule is pretty huge.

getting a bit OT, but about cutting, its also a bit of what ppl see as track surface, as some say need 2 wheels inside white line at all times, while other say curb is part of track. But I find the stricked rules good. When I think about it, it have been 1 corner I did get a few warning in practice. outside of T1 at Melbourne. But I was so on the limit, so it felt like I did same line when I got the warning and when I didnt, so it must have been almost like a millimeter on track or off track. But thats only place I have had to sligthly adjust my driving from how I normaly drive there.

Track limits are pretty easy to see and understand. Stricked rules are good. I struggle only in Sochi, in some light conditions is not so hard to miss the apex because of flat kerbs (i'm cheating LoL). Melbourne allows too much to me in that fast chicane. I've seen many videos of esports challenges and timetrials. Timetrial in its highest form is all about looking for track limits. In the esports challange, many top users took lines at the limit. Monza in this game is almost cut friendly.

Stricked rules are good. Plus race lenght compensates the penalty. I play 100% distance, it can happen at times to get two warnings over the course of 50-60 laps but a few seconds penalty is compensated by wider gaps. Plus this game has the best error recognition, it recognises very well if you cut or simply missed the breaking point...

For endurance players in Project Cars (like myself), who have seen almost everything (in Project Cars the AI overtakes cutting the corner), it may sound absurd but F12017's corner cutting and penalty system is like paradise...

I just drove in Canada and I went from 20th to 6th in my Renault. Difficulty: Expert. Matched Vettel's pace. Monaco was tough though, although it could just have been me getting tired. So far haven't really pinned down any particular trend yet.
