Nicholaswarren9 0 Posted September 15, 2017 what are people thinking in terms of what teams to select, how hard is it to build a mid tier car into challenging for a title or what does it take to get a contract offer from a top team
Fetal 8 Posted September 15, 2017 you make gains in REP by hitting team targets (qual and race).you make BIG gains in rep if you beat both cars of a team. eg beat both williams drivers and you get a big chunk. only beat 1 and you get a decent chunk. so on and so forth. if you wanna make a dynasty with 1 team, you can. how hard it will be depends on how hard you set the AI compared to your driving skill leveleg: if you pick sauber or mclaren. you wont be top 10 season 1. IF you set the AI correctly for realism. (there is always extenuating circumstances, rain, DNFs, DSQs etc). If challenge is what does it for you.
Leeboi85 0 Posted September 15, 2017 Well don't expect overnight success! I chose Mclaren and have got to round 16 and am still well off the pace of a Hass in quali, with the odd exception at tracks that are less power reliant.. It can be frustrating because you have to work hard for resource points but end up pouring a lot of them into durability at first just down to the fact that Gearboxes and the engine will fail and wear quickly in the first year. If you want to be on the pace quickly I'd suggest going for a Torro Rosso, Still far enough down the field to be considered a challenge but close enough to the best of the rest to have you squabbling with the pack for good points by the mid point of season one. Nicholaswarren9 0 Posted September 15, 2017 Just can't decide between picking renault and building them. Or picking like a toro Rosso or a Williams to boost my profile and get a drive a Ferrari or mercedes
Fetal 8 Posted September 15, 2017 when you cant make up your mind... roll some dice. assign a team to each number and roll.
sirio994 270 Posted September 15, 2017 Test different tracks, the equation seems to be 10=1 sec. I tested every track, wet, inters, programs. There are different variables...
Nicholaswarren9 0 Posted September 15, 2017 The R&D tree seems so big aha looks like it would take a while for the car to noticeably improve
BoothJoe 0 Posted September 15, 2017 I dunno. The game is about a personal career and not a constructor/team/car career. I picked McLaren and my goal is to advance my personal career, which means moving from the bottom-level teams to a high level team over a period of several seasons by meeting and exceeding the expectations of the team and improving my reputation in F1. Let's face it; I'm not going to win a championship in the McLaren...it's a deadend. Again, I think you need to view this as a personal career and not get hung up on staying with one team to the bitter end.

JustP 0 Posted September 15, 2017 I would say it depend too much on what team you join and what you want out from it. As from the sound of it many seem to want to get into one of the top teams, but for myself, I want to stay with the team I start with and make it to the top. (might make a new career at some point where I do change team as well)And considering different teams, by the sound of it McLaren would need a lot of durability upgrades, but at the same time with Sauber and McLaren you will or should start from the back, so penalties later might not hurt you much anyway, as you maybe lose 2-3 spots on the grid. other teams higher up the grid, it would be more important to not get penalties and lose possisions on the grid.If you think about performance upgrades, I would most probably improve the part of the car that is worst, or furthest away from the other teams, like McLaren, the engine. Sauber the chassies and downforce ( not sure who is worst atm). Also you have the parts about making upgrades cheaper, I am considering getting them all for one part of the car, and then upgrade all of the minor upgrades in that section, and when I unlock the upgrade speed for major parts, upgrade them, and same with Ultimate parts. I am not sure to go for the upgrades about making the part fail less of the times, as I belive max upgaded you get 37,5% less chance for failure. if it was 100% no chance of failure I had done them first as well. This mens I will probably use 1-1,5 season, maybe even 2 in worst case, just to get this upgrades before starting on performance upgrades. This should at least be the fastest way to get a fully upgraded car, when not including the difference in points you get from results, as you save up to 50% points per part when maxed out. This is what I would do, but I guess other have other opinions that might differ from what I prefer. PercocetPanther 0 Posted September 16, 2017 I had already decided, before buying the game, that I would use either Williams or Toro Rosso. In the end I picked the Williams and it has been a decent challenge for me.I am on PS4, using a pad, and have started with a conservative 75-80 difficulty and intend to up it as I gain confidence and experience with the handling model, set ups etc...I must give Codies their due, they really have an excellent model for controller users. If anyone has tried tailoring Asetto Corsa or Project Cars to play on a controller they will appreciate the beautifully weighted system on this game.Of course, AC and PC are more "sim" like (at least AC is) and are coming from p.c where a wheel is considered more important, but still...
