"A Quote from Lee Mather"

Recommended Posts

""There's a lot of Formula One fans in the office and they'll always have their say.
Then as a design team we'll start to formulate a picture of what we want to do and start to speak to the wider team, so we'll get some of the production guys involved, so that they get some idea as to whether that's even achievable in scope.

Then we start to PITCH IT to the SENIOR EXECUTIVES, to see if they BUY INTO IT and get excited by the concept of WHAT WE WANT TO MAKE. Once THEY'RE HAPPY with everything, then we get into production and off we go"".

So there you have it, all you need to hear I've put in capitals.... the game is influenceed by the suits with KPI's of profit.

Of course senior management has a say - and the way we (consumers) talk to senior management is with our wallets. They listen to money more than they listen to requests & complaints, and they'll continue selling whatever people continue buying. Buying bad quality provides funding for more bad quality. If we want good quality, then we have to stop throwing money at bad quality.

I've said this before on Reddit in response to various posts about things like this. What people don't understand is that the customer and the consumer are no longer the same person. The people who buy the games are just the consumers. The customers are the investors and upper management who only care that a hefty return is made on their investment. If the product is bad, who cares? As long as adequate profit was made, that's all that matters.

Exactly, and there's profit because consumers buy it. If bad quality wasn't so profitable, it wouldn't be so common.

At the end of the day, CM is a publicly traded company. So shareholders and their investments own the company.  Shareholders don't care what features are added or omitted, all they care for is that their investment is growing, and rightfully so.

Nothing surprising. Someone in another thread said as they've experienced no bugs, having paid £30 they'd happily pay £100.

Codies and the Execs would happily lose two thirds of the playerbase if they could guarantee getting more of that particular player.

People are buying the game because they like what codemasters serves them. Happy customer here and  because I like F1 2017 so much my pre-order for F1 2018 is certain.

No, people are buying a F1 game which no one else provides, we listen to anything from e3/gamescon hoping for the best, the the YouTube divs get hold of it, darent say a bad thing about it in case of dis association. Then we get it home and play the real game, sad to say general disappointment ensues again.

The only way to make an informed buying decision is to read reviews of the game that we get to play on release day, not pre-release copies, or to read these forums after release.
That's what I have done, & I didn't buy F12017 because of this. i.e. Reviews of  pre-release copies rate this the best codies F1 effort ever judging by the scores, but the day 1 patch ruined the game.

It's a licensed game, you have to respect the wishes and requests of your licensor or else you lose the license, simple.

It's the same with Pro Evolution Soccer, FIFA, NHL, NBA, Madden, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon etc...

AMS has old and new F1 cars, as well as mods that make them look more like the real deal. Plenty of other games do as well. Don't like it, deal with it. It's your problem for limiting yourself so much.

Tell that to the console players. We don't get mods and investing a lot in a pc capable of delivering decent graphics and fps is no option for a lot of us. So it's bullshit to say we are limiting ourselves.

Your problem for playing on console. Plus, you still have Project Cars (bad as it may be) and Assetto Corsa.

>and investing a lot in a pc capable of delivering decent graphics and fps is no option for a lot of us
Even with the market for graphics cards being swamped by cryptocurrency miners, that is a load of bull. For the same price of a modern console you can get a far better PC.

Seriously? A decent graphics card is as expensive as a console. So please, show me a pc capable of playing this game at a 60 fps with graphics turned high for 400,- euro's. I used to play on pc for years, but got fed up with upgrading every year because next gen games wouldn't run on my current pc. Was fed up with compatibility issues. PC market is narrowing down for years. Wonder why. So being on console is not my problem, it's my choice and I don't complain. Just responding to your unfounded reply.

(Note: I have absolutely nothing at all against consoles or console gamers, and I am not a "PC master race" elitist at all. I'm only providing a link showing that PCs can be built to match or beat console performance more affordably than some might think. It doesn't start getting expensive until you want to max everything out.)
