"Next" DiRT game wishlist!

Recommended Posts

I mean for the next part will be a real rally game, after that there will be a new Showdown part for example.

Now i do 4 or 5 stages after one another and  i'm already done with that country because there aren't any stages left and i'm still around the 20 minute mark. and still i don't have sore hands :P. But it depends on the player so i sugested an idea on shortened tracks to do 30% of the normal stage times( about 4 minutes of the 13 minutes). they only need to change the checkpoints and check in stations (or something). It is an(hopefully) easy compromise to the beginers and advanced racegamers.

I don't expect you to change your opinion based on what I am writing here but please have some hope that things will change.

At least you had the balls to reply like a polite person and not like a cocky..., interesting

Ok man....., ok.... My opinion might not change, for now;  but you have definitely earned (earnt?, sorry english not my main language) my respect.

Looking forward to what is coming soon, I hope:)

If you want to make the true rally game you need to forget baja, gymkhana, rallycross etc, take a look at uk rallying. If you have a career mode start with the junior series or rally first program where you start with a micra, Toyota aygo, peugeot 107 or Citroen c1. Have a multi surface championship where you do 3 rounds on Tarmac and 3 on gravel with events like the jim Clark, the Manx, epynt, Wales gb national event. After a season of this move onto faster cars and have a 1.6 nova/corsa, mg zr, cars like that. Once the uk championship has been won move onto something like the ERC where you can use group N/S2000 or if you don't want to do global events have the older wrc cars like the 206, xsara, bug eyed impreza, accent.... Also you could still keep the older cars in a historic category where you can have escorts (mk 1 & 2), Porsche 911, manta's etc Also for the more advanced gamers you could have a recce where you could adjust or create your own pacenotes. Also 2 shakedown session to set the car up properly, I think that an advanced set up option would be great as moving a box on a bar isn't very accurate. Another thing dirt is missing out on is the ability to create your own graphic designs, all the games like need for speed and forza all have these features, although pre made designs are a bad idea in my book. With reference to the stages I'd prefer longer, more techincal stages and also changeable whether conditions which actually make a difference to the handling and characteristics. These are just my opinions but I think that the older Colin McRae games need to be modernised.

A 20 minute stage your hands would be sore after that haha
How about a single location that from start to finish is 21 minutes. In the game itself the average player will experience three 7 minute stages. But for people who want a longer experience we can create a custom race (single or multiplayer) that has the full 21 minutes uninterrupted.

It would also be cool if we could choose a "location/environment", weather, and then activate liveroutes and specify a time limit between 4 minutes and 2 hours. Lets say you choose 40 minutes. You'd get a completely randomly generated route and once the timer hits the 39 minute mark it would auto-generate a handful of final corners and then the finish line.

What if we could save the generated route to re-play it later or allow friends to compete against our time.

Almost forgot - I would like a DiRT 2-esque rocking soundtrack. Although I could leave the rest of the Americana, we (my son and I) still play the D2 soundtrack today and race replays always feel so much more hardcore with a hard rock soundtrack. The D3 soundtrack by comparison was eminently forgettable!

I was reading again some wishes for the next game and I found something about the elimination of Head2Head of the game.

Instead of that (Head2Head) why not turn this mode into the SSS from the Rally?

There is some events that have SSS (WRC, ERC, etc...) and it's a part from the rally world, so why not get back this? I remember playing it on CMR 2.0! :P

PS: List updated! :P

Rallycross was confirmed to be apart of future rally titles :)

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it'd be nice to have the ability to upgrade certain cars. For example, in the Uk we now have old Proton Satria Neo S2000 cars, fitted with 2.5 Millington racing engines. And in Ireland there's an MG S2000 fitted with a 2.4 engine. Would be cool to upgrade S2000 cars to 2.5, or S1600 cars into F2 kit car spec.

A mixed bunch of disciplines , as DIRT had .focused on off roading escene .
rallycross , raid / baja (trucks and cars)  , hillclimb ( not trailblazer crap) , rallyng , head 2 head , and CORR alike championship would be fantastic

open world rally raid stages would be interesting and fun.

I'd also like to add that I would like Head to Head stages/super special stages to remain in the game. I think they're great fun, and I love the Monaco one on DiRT3.

I really want to see the return of the SSS instead of Head2Head! :P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Group B rally cars that blew up and eventually got banned were far closer to their DiRT 3 trailblazer counterparts. I'm certain the Quattro at least looked more like the trailblazer when it was banned, and like the rally one when it started out........................................ If I'm right, then can the next games group B be more like the monsters that got banned? Or maybe having a choice of Early Group B and Banned Group B? The challenge of driving those on tight tracks would be very nice.................................. I've also noticed that the hill climb cars look a lot like trailblazer. Maybe have them in hill climb events and actually call the events hillclimb and drop the title of trailblazer altogether? Just a thought.............................................. Sent via mobile. The dots are to make up for nonexistent paragraph spaces. Waiting on a fix, @justbiglee. Thanks for getting to work in it.

I don't mind rally cross, I quite enjoy it but I think there's just to much of a big demand to have a pure rally game

Catering several disciplines has always been one of the weak points of the series imo.

You have rallycross, rally, raid, etc but in little doses, and in the end everything feels lackluster. Just a handful of rallycross stages, three or so raid tracks, not enough rally, etc.

Dirt4 should be a pure rally game, and the super special stages at the end of each rally (the classic head to head stages) could be used as the rallycross events or smething like that, so the game by no means would feel lackluster any longer, as it all would be rallying, plus six or so rallycross tracks at the end of each rally/country. (six countries, or eight better like in the old good CMR times)

Here is a thought for the wish list on that subject.  I don't know how licensing details are worked out, but you could offer manufacture program cars or 'shells'.  Ford does this with their Fiesta R2 Rally kit (by M-Sport), I believe Subaru does this via Vermont Sportscar (here in the states).

So we start out much like some other race-sims with a plain starter car that has the lowest specs for the class we can afford (again here in the US Ford has a relatively inexpensive R2 program).  But this would be a factory fresh car, and not a grassroots car.

I only really know well US rally and cars available to us here, so I am speaking from a US perspective just as a example.

BUT, if you start out as a grass roots level, the budget car can be anything, but popular here are older subarus, i.e. legacys 89-94, volvos 1980s, Saabs 1980s, and a lot of BMWs 80-2000.  Maybe these cars show a little rust and abuse/history to start off.  It could cost money to beautify the car if wanted.  Maybe this is a level that you can get certain spare or donor cars for parts or shells.

Not everyone can start out with 100k+ car and budget, besides fixing those cars cost more (in game too!).

@rallycameraman

I put this up a few posts back.  I didn't mention about the upgrading of engines and mechanicals, but thats what I was getting at too.

Dirt wishlist:   1) An "ultimate dirt " game with all previous dirt games remastered into one super game.    2) Allow all cars on all tracks all the time and online (the best racing dirt 3 had to offer ...most will never even know) but it was awesome on many tracks thx to ACAT mod.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS_NPVDoeSY      Why flush a diamond down the toilet for no good reason...Codies???      3)If possible:  something should be about network lag (some kind of buffer maybe?) so that racers aren't crashing each other WHEN THEY ARE NOT CRASHING EACH OTHER !!  that would be really nice.  4) Dirt 2 had an amazing amount of off-track content, so super fun, accessible only with another non-codies mod (auto-reset tool). Flushing diamonds again!! Off track open terrain driving would be awesome and is wished for. 5)Last wish: Please don't make us "earn" vehicles and upgrades. It's just a redundant chore and wastes my time (some racers are not beginners) not to mention I just paid cash for what should be top shelf racing right out of the box.  Codies makes the best racing games by far, in my opinion and i hope they just keep getting better. Good job codies!!

I guess this was not mentioned yet, so I will say.

Playing the Rally event in DiRT 3 (in DiRT Tour), there are 5 stages in each rally and you only run 1 time each! In real rally events, most of the stages are run 2 times, so I suggest that on the next game in career mode there is an option where we can choose to run 2 times, in order to extend the "experience" in driving the various Rally events!

PS... Been now for 2 weeks in New zealand and those roads are amazing..... Really should put the WRC rally of New Zealand in the new rallygame again!! Just did the southern east coast heading now to the west, and later northern island Auckland so thats where the real wrc stages are! 1 word; amazing over here!

I would love to do that rally. Have you been / are you going to Whaanga Coast?
Not yet Jon, will do that next week when we hit the northern island! But its so amazing the nature everything! I am in love... Only one sad thing is that they drive on the wrong side (read left side) over here as u guys do in the UK, take some time to get used to it wuhaha

Here's something that would be great and has never been done before in a rally game: offer a scenario mode where you get to relive classic moments from WRC history by racing in set scenarios that were iconic battles from the past. For example, drive as McRae in Rally GB 1995 to clinch the title from Sainz, or race as Makinen in the final stage of Rally Catalunya in 1997 (and beat Liatti's stage time by a certain margin) to win his first ever tarmac event, and drive as Burns in Rally GB 1998 to help Mitsubishi win their first manufacturer's title. The list is endless, but it would offer unique challenges based on real history, and would put the cars and settings to good use. Wouldn't be too hard to do either, but you'd have to get the appropriate licences.
Great idea you could do a timeline of scenarios and after completing 1 you would unlock the next scenario on the timeline and the drivers involved in that scenario and the cars they used throughout their careers to use in single player.

I think it is nice to have some random encounters on stages. Like broken down cars with an angry driver or some animals that suddenly cross the road. I noticed that kind of random encounters in WRC: Evolved today when i wanted to try something different.

It was also funny that the co driver laughed at opponents, who had a car that was broken down.

How can we missed this one? Now that's a good idea. And yes, the list is ENDLESS.

Damm, your a bad person! Why would your co-driver laught at someone that is broken/crash down? Usually I try to look if is anything right with the team, not laugh. I want to win for being the best, not because others broke/crash

Hey, i wasn't the one laughing, and it was only the car that was broken down :P. and its a game, you can be sadistic in games right? :P. I think it makes the game more realistic.
