With regards to real stages, in my opinion I would only want that on really iconic stages, such at the Great Orme and Pikes Peak. Other than that just having a realistic representation of the locations is more than enough, otherwise too much time will be taken up on authenticity, and it wouldn't allow as much creativity in the development

I personally would agree with this; if the rally stages were based around proper rallies but the stages themselves were fictional that personally wouldn't bother me.

The rallycross tracks are the only thing I'm really bothered about being fiction free.

They can't call it 'Colin McRae' anything. Colin's wife asked them to stop using his name after he died.
I don't believe that is entirely correct: DiRT 2 came out two years after McRae died and that had Colin's name on it.
Pretty sure it is true Paul said on twitter after DiRT 2 that they were not aloud to use the Colin McRae name anymore @KickUp

DiRT2 featured the Colin McRae tribute video but was only called DiRT 2 in the USA (it was Colin McRae: DiRT 2 in other territories).

We agreed with the family that we would not continue to use the name for DiRT3. We did however include a number of the cars he drove and offered his legendary Mark 2 Escort as a DLC pack with some of the proceeds going to the Colin McRae Vision charity.

Since then we have released Colin McRae Rally for the iPhone and Android and that involved making an agreement with Colin's family.

Colin is still an inspiration to us all. His raw talent, speed and his total commitment to living life to the fullest are key elements in our design ethos for DiRT.

Whatever the next game is called, I believe that if Colin was still with us today, he would be as excited as we are about it.

I understand his families wishes and why,  I only hope that you can continue to add his cars and liveries into the game.

Here's something that would be great and has never been done before in a rally game: offer a scenario mode where you get to relive classic moments from WRC history by racing in set scenarios that were iconic battles from the past. For example, drive as McRae in Rally GB 1995 to clinch the title from Sainz, or race as Makinen in the final stage of Rally Catalunya in 1997 (and beat Liatti's stage time by a certain margin) to win his first ever tarmac event, and drive as Burns in Rally GB 1998 to help Mitsubishi win their first manufacturer's title. The list is endless, but it would offer unique challenges based on real history, and would put the cars and settings to good use. Wouldn't be too hard to do either, but you'd have to get the appropriate licences.

Dear everybody from Codemasters ^^
There (on this forum) are not so many thoughts about music in the game.
I want to accent,that sound tracks in Dirt 2 and Showdown were amazing!
 Racing (rally) is extreme sports , it`s adrenaline. Experience of Dirt2 and Showdown showed me one interesting thing : when roar of engine mixes with guitar distortion in different types of rock music (for example) - it gives GREAT feelings! Just have it on mind :)
 Economy is good,but not this time :) More popular groups - more impressions. I think it would be nice to hear old good AC\DC,Airbourne,Rise Against,Pendulum,Killswitch Engage,SOAD,Her Bright Skies,Disturbed,Falling in Reverse,Heart of a Coward,Glamour of the Kill,TRC etc. It`s what I like,make a survey or questionnaise for other people:)
Sorry,I can`t help the project. But I can buy it :)))
Best wishes,

Max,Ukraine

I was always willing to post my own wishlist. Now since there is one, I would like to say what I extremely approve and which I am afraid cannot agree with. The rest are those I agree with, but not that particular.

Excellent:
Remastered rally races like DiRT 1;
More rally stages;
No repeated stage sections;
Longer and difficult stages to drive;
Real rally cross circuits;
Field of view adjustment;
No talking person in menus;
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb;
Stage equivalent to Dakar;
More classic rally cars (like Talbot Sunbeam, Fiat 131 Abarth, Chevette, Stratos, etc)
Peugeot 208 T16;

Cannot agree:
Less trucks;

Explanation:
REAL Rally Stages in DiRT 1 was great, which, however, can no longer be seen in the following DiRT games. Among almost a dozen stages every year, if you can pick up half, we will be graceful. And, please do not end stages just within 6 km, our engines even have not warmed up! Please make sure that stages take no shorter than 10 min instead of just 3 min. As for the tracks themselves, I do not think there will be as many straight sections lasting for 60 or even 80 in WRC as in our DiRT! Please make sure that there are more turns in the tracks, and that cars perform differently on tarmac, dirt and snow. Adjustments should be made in a service station instead of in a computer! Make sure cars are driven out of a station instead of falling off the sky, please! And RallyX stages should be real, also.
You have no idea how much I want to see Pikes Peak again with the brand new Peugeot 208! Please delete cars like BMW Z4, Ford Fiesta, and the Hyundai in Trail Blazer, Because we want the Peugeot 208, Hyundai Genesis, Suzuki SX4 and so on.
I want to see REAL Dakar cars like MINI, Hummer, also, and make sure there are tracks like real Dakar where we might get stuck in sand, instead of just Raid, or you can simply contain no tracks like Dakar, because we just won't buy Raid.
The only thing I cannot agree with is about the trucks. I think there are too few trucks in game. Trophy Trucks are just so-so, what I want is Dakar trucks like Kamaz and Iveco.

Just to add to what @KickUp said, I'm also following this thread (and others) very closely :) It's great to get your views on what should be included in the next game and very pleasing to know that we are on the same wave length.

Having been involved in motorsport for a number of years as a competitor, a spectator, a marshall, an instructor and in general a HUGE fan of the sport and of games representing it, I feel very privileged to be able to use that insight and work with such a talented team. I can't wait to be able to discuss more about what we're up to. :D

When I say classic cars, group B are obviously a must!

I just thought this time we could have more of them, instead of just WRC S2000, etc. Bring more memories from the 70's and 80's ;)

With you and Paul involved in rally and part of the DiRT team, you must have a harder time than others to say this is just how it is, and others say ok, but its not fun.  It will be a tough task to balance, but I am looking forward to what you have in store.

@frankenstain

I think it may be hard to over look Ford Fiestas any more they have quite a presence in rally, sadly (IMHO) I would like to see a few more Escorts though. :)

Loved reading through that really old wishlist thread you found before DiRT 3 was even out! Interesting to see how your list has evolved over the years :)
