BUG Radio Output Device Causes Distorted Sound PC

Recommended Posts

Version 1.6 on PC
Windows 10
Nvidia 1070
Rocketfish BT Earpiece rf-gps31104

When I set the radio output device to my Bluetooth headset, it will play a test sound of the engineer speaking and sounds fine.  However there is a message in the upper left that says "loading" and when that goes away all the sound becomes very distorted.  I'd I turn off my headset, sound goes back to normal.  No matter what I try, I can't leave the output device set to my Bluetooth headset or the main sound through the main speakers is very distorted.  If I leave the radio output to my main speakers, I can still use the headset as a Mic for the voice commands, but the engineer comes through the main speakers.  I would much rather the engineer come through my headset.

The RocketFish is paired with an Asus Bluetooth device plugged into usb.  Latest drivers for video and Bluetooth installed.

Thanks,
Doug

Still a problem and I'm on 1.9 now.  This is getting a ridiculous.  I can use the headset at least as a mic for voice input, but if I want the pit engineer to come through the headset, then it distorts all audio to the point you can't play.  So I have leave the pit engineer audio set to the main out of my speakers.

I've tried updating drivers, changing all settings in regards to bluetooth with no luck.

Hoping to try a friend's headset to see if that has something to do with it, but my headset works fine in iRacing where others talk to me and I get the audio in the headset.

Thanks!

Tried a different bluetooth headset.  This bluetooth headset is meant to be used to listen to music... overhead type, but it does have a mic.  When I paired to the computer is makes 2 different sound devices.  The handsfree device which has low quality 8000 hertz telephony audio.  Then it has the headset which is 44100 cd quality audio.  I set the radio output to the headset device and this time it did NOT distort in the menu.  So, I thought the problem was fixed.  Well, once in a race when I try to talk to the pit engineer, all audio drops out and then the game freezes.

So I'm back to square one... I have to set the radio output to the main speakers as anytime I try to set radio output to any type of bluetooth headset, it distorts the sound or causes the game to freeze.

belatedly putting this in, Windows 10 properties for the sound device has some enhancements like equalisation etc... might work.
It took me some time to get the sound to work at all... CM106 USB cheapie device - Cmedia dont make drivers for Win10, so Windows defaults are used. funny similarly that the games test sounds were ok, but come to the game, nothing. go figure!
This is why I gave up on F1 2015 and 2016 after upgrading to Win10 and didnt buy 2017 until now (at a huge discount) as the sounds were muffled.
Other games like PCars 1 and 2 and F1 2013 did not have this problem with muffled sounds. something to do with gain I think. also I think codemasters are not coding sound correctly.
Glad it came good from fiddling with the windows sound device properties settings, cannot recall everything I did. on 44kHz though, 5.1 .
we also have a subtitles option in the game for the radio...
[ Very happy this time with the handling (I went over to Pcars for the last 18 months and struggled all the way with grip and low temperatures ).
Using traction control for now.
maybe it's the 2017 wider tyres but it is what it should be, and fun. I am only 12 seconds off Hamiltons new Melbourne record.
sound is still muffled though and inferior.
nice to have the old F1 tracks and F1 ambience back. - used the F2 button to skip intros - that took a while to figure out.]
