Driving in heavy rain (cockpit view)

Recommended Posts

Just drove in  heavy rain yesterday starting in the back of the pack (cockpit view) in Australia (staring my championship - SP). Any tricks? It is really hard to see the other cars when you arrive in the first few corners. The flashing red lights are not helping much. Other than seeing the names of the drivers, it is hard to judged where the other cars are. Thanks!

The best advise really is to keep playing and keep trying, you'll get better  :)

Imo their should be much more spray in heavy rain conditions. Just saw the singapore GP and their was more spray in intermediate conditions than in codies heavy rain conditions :).

Yeah i just had a career  race in Canada,, heavy rain throughout,, everyone stayed on inters (i think thats gotta be a bug) and they're was virtually no spray from the car in front or when looking at my own car from behind.

I have the same problem. Could this be a graphic issue? I didn't have that issue in the beta and I'm playing on maximum details, except for reflections and mirrors, which is one down from maximum.

Maybe it was just changed from the beta or something..

I felt like that last year, like they dumbed the AI way down from beta to 16 going live. Frustrating.

im on PS4,,, i did notice that the further the race when on the more the spray appeared in the 'behind' view so i was thinking a render issue. i might got and just to a heavy rain race in Canada in the 'single race' mode. i remember Vettel set the fastest lat with a 1:26ish on inters so i want to see if full wets should had been the go and what the spray is like.... i also cannot say i saw the rain light from the car in front but i was still fuming that jeff conned me into pitting when the whole race went without a car pitting lol (25% career race)

You sure it was heavy rain? No spray and inters doesnt sound like multiple bugs it sounds like light to moderate rain. Just had a race in "heavy" rain in melborn and it was undrivable. Couldnt see anything and car was uncontrollable on full wets. Normal wet feels good this year but what I got the race would have never started in let alone a standing start.

Use the "1000 yard stare". Try to focus ahead of the track and ignore the spray. It really helped me. Good luck. Since I'm also on a controller I get better time on lean in the corners.

I've often heard drivers say that they look for references to the sides of the car when they can't see very far ahead in wet weather. That's what I do, and it seems to serve me well. Try to learn the locations of the 150, 100, 50 braking makers, the flashing alert signals at the side of the track, points where the corner kerbs start (they often start the kerbs for corners around the 100m board on certain tracks)., bridges, banners across the track, that sort of thing.

It was at same GP than Daenum for me. Melbourne. Cannot see cars 50 metrs ahead due to massive sprays by all the cars ahead and heavy rain!

I like the moderate rain racing but the torrential downpours that would never be raced in just repeatedly ruin my seasons so I've all but given up on career mode. Probably for the better so I dont have to sit through any more godawefull unskipable cutscenes.

Well that's what it said, and that's what Jeff said every few laps "this HEAVY rain will be with us until the end of the grand prix
