F1 2018 Game Ideas

"Use feeder categories such as; F4, F3, F2 or Go - Karting within the gameplay for career mode (get promotion from teams and so on)"
That would be nice

- AI are more defensive in the slipstream/straight
- AI hang around a corner or might make a huge dive bomb into a corner

Oh, this will just result in more crybabies claiming that the AI rams into them nonstop and that they're never at fault because they're the most perfect players in history.

I quite like idea of a separate story mode, something akin to The Journey in FIFA, or the story focused single player campaign you get in most E.A sport titles, such as Madden, NBA etc...

You would start as a rookie in a lower formula, perhaps immediately meeting your flash, arrogant nemesis and battling him on track.

Your personal decisions would dictate your progression, not the pre set, unalterable game developers choices...and each player could see multiple endings.

As long as it wasn't too schmaltzy and cliché, and allowed a genuine sense of pride in your character, and was paced correctly, with the speed of advancement to F1 based on your ability, but also recognising that you can pick the wrong team, come up too early and fail, or waste an opportunity and see it go to another driver.

If it was done well it would be such a fantastic experience.

Naturally the more traditional modes, such as single race, time trial, online etc... would be standard. - PercocetPanther

Thank you very much. Your ideas are great. Especially, you dictating your progression. Like that.

Definitely.

Double flap DRS?

Impossible for it to be too short - JoeyGTX650

I recently found out they had double DRS flaps. So one would open and you can open it again further. It was on youtube. It was Sebastian and Daniel telling us about the power unit etc. But having double flap DRS would make overtaking much easier and it will test you like the harpin corners etc. You may tap R2 twice to activate the double DRS flap.

Idea for F1 2018

Is form aracde game to Simulation game and not unreal more pls - ChoasBladerZ

Agree.

LOL. True that. But Codemasters can make them move when the player is like 3 car lengths behind. Dive bombing, make people dive bomb but let contact be slight, not too much. Plus it's fun I've enjoined racing wheel to wheel since 2015. The games before that wheel to wheel racing was pretty rubbish and easy. I smile now when there is a good battle. I know its weird. Additionally, the arrows that pop up to show that a driver is behind you could turn red to show that they are dive bombing or something.

As well as the stuff I mentioned initially, I'd like to see a story mode that had cinematics, perhaps speech options, like you see in The Journey and Mass Effect, with multiple choices that take you down different story threads, and it would need to have top quality voice acting and motion capture.

As others mentioned I think it would bring the whole thing alive if you could actually develop rivalries, real rivalries, with drivers.

So if you took Hamilton out at turn one he would come up to you after the race and speak to you.

You get stars from other sports doing motion capture, FIFA being the best example, so why not f1?

I think it would add a lot to the overall experience.

After all, if you think about it the actual drivers are all mute, and could easily be robots for all the human interaction we have.

That, for me, is the priority as far as immersion and really bringing the F1 world alive in the game.

It's not 1997, things have changed in the gaming medium.

It is considered art in many places and has proven it can offer the player a rich, emotional, and complex, world with believable characters.

When we play f1 we have to play out any rivalry, any driver interaction, in our heads.

Again, many games have introduced real world sporting stars into their games, principally the E.A games, and so there is no excuse for such a global brand as f1 to be behind the times.

Aside from a brief podium celebration, which are all the same regardless of who wins, and some token shots on the grid pre race start, there is no relationship with the other drivers and that is a wasted opportunity.

Cool down laps (why not even prerace out laps)
Formula 2
Driver persobality and tendencies (aggressivness, consistency and ability). It would make the AI more human (less experienced drivers more prone to mistakes when under pressure, Verstappen more aggressive than the rest of the field).

Create a team and carreer mode transferts...

I like the Verstappen part. Also that he and Lewis are better in the rain.

Yup. Agree with making them more human like.

I've got an absolutely brilliant idea. MAKE IT F$%*^£G WORK - Kevpidd

Don't worry, Codemasters are capable of making the best racing game ever they just want to make it better and better rather than putting all their ideas into one game otherwise they will lose out on so much money.

Totally agree with the drivers having a voice instead of being muted. Your ideas are so emotional, it was like a speech.

I really like the idea of doing more cut scenes, it is probably the best part to Carreer racing!  They need more, like a stalker fan you sends thousands of love emails or twitter posts, and that one fan in the crowd wearing a bikini top who you could swear flashed you on your final lap, she climbs through the security fence and meets you in the tema tralier post race interviews!  We could also see the mechanics all throw their arms in the air when the car crashes, do an insert pic in pic style along with a screaming commentator "ohh no he has put it in the wall"  then and only then does the safety car come out, which also should be a small view insert.
Then after all that, signing contracts, needs to be followed by a few drinks at the bar, your shout of course!

Team orientated helmets for career mode. Helmets that have templates for livery base colours, logos etc. The helmets in the game are horrible no matter how you edit them.

I'd like to see more additional content, so keep the current range of classic F1 cars but also add to them. Things such as one of MS' Bennetons, some of the 80s turbo cars etc.

I'd also like to see some classic tracks too:
- Old versions of Silverstone, Hockenheim, Spa...
- S Korea, India, Turkey, Indy, Jerez, Magny Cours, Estoril, Brands...

Could try and have downloadable paint jobs which people in the community can make for people to download like on Forza. Would love to create my own team with this or change Sauber to BMW Sauber and maybe Haas to Panasonic Toyota, change the McLaren livery back to the chrome and red Vodafone would make the careee much more enduring and fun!

Also the ability to sign new engine deals etc. Or drivers changing teams based on performance just some ideas. Maybe if you are a lower team like Sauber or McLaren you can sign and engine contract with Mercedes or Renault etc. Which gives you a big boost to power and makes you more competitive.

Great driver, but not as good in the rain as Lewis and Max.

Scenario mode. I remember they had that in f1 world gp for the n64 back in the day.  Things that actually happened in real life and you have to re-enact them. Also the anthems on the podium.

Ea sports f1 2000 for PS1 also had that if I remember correct. Would be a great addition.

I have a golden idea!

For 2018 give McLaren a GP2 engine D

Guaranteed that joke died already - Dboyking1

We will just pretend that you never said that.

Like the ideas mate. But the women or man you didn't which one, flashing themselves is a bit to sexual. Naa i'm joking. I know it's a joke. Hopefully.

Bringing F1 2013 back. Good idea.

About the engine deal. I like the idea. But it's more of a motorsport management kind of thing. If could codemasters could add that feature of building or being the manager of the team that would be cool.

I like the Verstappen part. Also that he and Lewis are better in the rain. - Raalte

What about Fernando Alonso.

Great driver, but not as good in the rain as Lewis and Max. - Raalte

I'll give you that. They are much better in the rain then Alonso. Alonso is very consistent.

Oh yeah, I forgot about scenario mode. That was a good feature in 2012. I think. Great idea. Especially, national anthems on the podium.

Just want to thank everyone we have over 1,000 views, 1,300 to be accurate. I know I'm late. There's roughly 200 views a day. Lets try and get the whole F1 gaming community to share their ideas for F1 2018. Additionally, thank you to everyone that commented aswell.

I would like that when I  crached the car. The pilate got injuries. Because we will be carefull when we ride on the race. But the game must improve its gameplay.

Give me laser scanned tracks, i'm slightly disgusted anytime i jump from a laser scanned track to the eyeballed Codemasters version.

The OP is full of nice ideas too.

Cutscenes in career mode, such as when you join Ferrari, Seb Vettel either welcomes you to the team, or he could be quite cold based on the rivalry you bring (your achievements in the past may influence this). The Journey or NBA 2k18 are great examples, but they're obviously way too complicated for Codemasters to achieve in 2018.
In the current games, the actual drivers are way too distant. By getting actual F1 drivers to interact with you, might seem trivial but ever since 2015 when codemasters tried to go for the live the life-feel again, I've felt the actual drivers should feature as characters in the game. Pretty please, codies!
