dino78 14 Posted October 12, 2017 My F1 2018 Career Mode SuggestionsRACE WEEKEND (Practise):1) Suggested car setup recommended by your engineer for the said track. Also information on what is the ideal tyre compound for your car and number of suggested stops. If you've ever seen the Pirelli infographic for a race you'll get the idea. (See picture)2) Break down the practise tasks into seperate practise sessions, ie do track acclimitisation and honing the setup/ test new parts in FP1. Fuel Saving, Tyre Saving and Race programme for FP2. Qually programme for FP3 etc. This makes you then use all the FP sessions, otherwise you skip the rest once you've done your programmes. 3) Speaking of programmes, more on screen help with fuel load and tyre management. Both are fairy hard, involve you driving in a way you never do in a race and become quite frustating. To the point i skip both these programmes everytime now.4) Speed Traps and GPS overlay in FP to give you an idea of how quick you are on the straights and in the corners.5) If you're struggling for setup, a Q&A with the engineer. Q1. How was the car in corners? 1) Good, 2) Oversteering, 3) Understeering. Q2. How was the car in corners? 1) Good 2) Too slow, 3) Too fast. Q3. How was car stability etc etc. This could then be used to suggest a new setup for you to try. 6) Practise overview, who was fastest in straights? Corners? What new parts are teams running?7) Driver tyre selection for weekend. See picturePARTS:1) New parts comparision, i.e. run with our without the new parts to see the difference. Also what would be good would be a first driver preference i.e. new front wing is developed but only one avaiable for the race. Driver one gets it, driver two has to wait until next GP. This could add into a "team mate rivalry" that i'll go into later. 2) Engine upgrades for works and customer teams. Works team get them a GP or two earlier than customer team. 3) Ability to switch car development (love the new development stuff btw) to next seasons car. This could be a decision taken after summer break. Do we continue with current car as we are trying to win championship or in a constructors fight or do we switch resources over to next years car. A simple percentage bar could work here. 20% continue development on current car, 80% resources for next seasons car.4) Ability to tailor car development according to number of seasons you'll play. I'll at most do 3 - 5 seasons. I'd like car development adjusted to how many seasons i expect to play. QUALIFYING:1) Agreed race strategy with team, i.e. for Q2 we will be using SOFT rather than SS because we want to one stop in the race. Obviously this can go badly wrong if you dont get through Q2 with the slower tyre.2) Tyre and Brake temps for qually, should be an emphasis on getting them in the right temp window for qualifiying. We've seen this IRL lots this season, especially the tyres.3) Post qualifiying interview. Football Manager has done this for years, doesnt need flashy graphics just a Q&A page where press ask you questions about qually and race to come. This could add psychological pressure, make team rivalry worse, make team cohension better etc.4) Add in Mercedes qually boost mode and make it a development part that you can aspire to get.RACE:1) When we get the grid order, can we please have what tyre the driver is on? Currently when on the gird, you have to go to race director to check what tyres the drivers are on.2) If a driver has taken a penalty, what the penalty was for? i.e. new gearbox, new ICE etc. 3) The lap before race start, emphasis about getting the tyres and brakes to the correct temperature.4) IRL the cars have ERS button, OVERTAKE boost button amongst others. I know the pad/wheel has limited buttons but ERS and OVERTAKE would be good to have. See pic5) Ability to modify the MFD options menu so the options i prefer to use can be added to the first menu page in race6) Better explanation of what pit strategy the cars you are racing against are on. i.e. One stop, two stop etc. Also what lap the engineer thinks they may come in on.7) Add in the under cut and over cut to the race options, so your team may change your strategy to over cut an opponenent or may ask you to under cut and opponenent.8) Laptimes the team would like you to drive to, to ensure your pit strategy will work.9) Ability to see if car infront is harvesting (flashing red light IRL)10) The HUD, can we have it angled? You see this in racing games and first person shooters where the hud display looks like its being viewed through a helmet hence there is a curve to it all.11) I know this maybe really difficult to do, but in race commentary could be a nice feature.POST-RACE1) Interview about how race went, if you've annoyed other teams or drivers or your team mate2) A race highlights package of race director incidents3) Post race analysis (see pics)

dino78 14 Posted October 12, 2017 Some other ideas I forgot to mention. 1) Have the fastest lap notification at the very top of the screen. As I use a custom camera setting, fastest lap pops up right in middle of screen making it very difficult to drive for a few seconds. 2) A wet setup for wet races. Currently you can just use your dry setup fine in a wet race. 3) Take account of altitude and humidity. For the former Mexico for example. Teams run high downforce even though track has two long straights. Why? Because of the altitude. 4) Have conservative/normal/aggressive race and pit strategies. The more aggressive the more risk of something going wrong but also potential of higher reward. 5) In the wet you can still use the kerbs, irl you would be spinning off the track. 6) The agent is pretty pointless to the degree that I ignore everything she says other than the contract stuff. Why would an agent tell me my qualifying and race goals? Silly. 7) If you win drivers or constructors world championship, how about a resource points bonus? Also get press to add pressure on WC next season with more Q&A about defending title, mistakes etc.

So many great Ideas but like in the past, we won't get any interaction with the developers on where the next Game is going and which features are beeing worked on. Codies should take some advice from other companies who are involving their fans into developing the game like for example The Crew or go to the Sea of Thieves forums where you can straight talk to the developers and give them your thoughts! But Codmasters is always silent, no Open Beta testing, no Demo and informations about the game coming 1-2 weeks before release... It's really a shame because all of you here have got some great ideas but sad that not even 1% of that will be in the next game or ever be in future releases. sdenbroeder 29 Posted October 14, 2017 One thing that must be fixed for 2018 is the yellow flags. Currently, players as well as AI are able to drive through single and double yellow zones without having to slow down. I think it would be realistic to have everyone slow down through yellow flag zones and if they don't, they get something like a 5 second stop/go. This goes for qualifying as well. What if we have statistics for people. Therefore, people who are roughly at the same level race each other. It's like GTA V. If the mental state is high, the player gets placed into a session with other players with a higher mental state. So for F1 2018, people who crash more or have more penalties get placed with other people with the same amount of crashes/penalties. wonder how paul ricard is doing in terms of codemasters for f1 2018 and the return of Germany - DANDREWTHOMSONI think your in the wrong place. Who's Paul Ricard. :)They've already trialled lots of different designs, including windscreens and closed canopies. This is the one they've found to work best, so we're stuck with it. - scottishwildcatThanks for helping. Appreciate it. I get the reason for the halo but why not make a type of wrap around windscreen, it could be a open top design or enclosed. Have tear offs on it. Only thing is when it rains, not sure if a wiper would work well enough. But that halo isn’t really protecting much. - HaasF1racerThat's actually a good point about the wipers. LAL. But thank you for the idea.Ability to be an owner and manage an F1 team even during the race or be one of the drivers if you wanted to be. - HaasF1racerLike the idea. This still does not stop a piece of car from killing the pilot. - CavSTiagoJust to tell you. If you haven't watched Indy500. Basically, I think huge piece of debris hit the drivers head and knocked a driver out and he hit the wall. That's why they started to implement the idea of the halo. Sorry, I forgot the drivers name. These are great ideas,I have some more:-RPG features(I think somebody mentioned this already),and if they can't record the drivers' voice then only subtitles(like in Mount&Blade)-Team orders. If you disobey team orders you could lose some reputation (this might persuade players to obey them),and that would be cool if you could request team orders too, like Ocon in Canada or Hamilton in Baku.-Bring back the press like in F1 2010 or F1 2011 - Tommy3500Totally agree.Engine failures Offfical HUDMore AI crashes, especiallyy in lap 1realistic AI performance, such as verstappen being strong in wet conditionsF2 and F3 - roberto28Good idea. You guys are still buying this stuff? Haha lol just stopped by and read through all the problems. Id play it if it was free... maybe.... email me a code ill give you an honest full feedback review by email.FACT0RY PIL0T - FACT0RY PIL0TYeah, you need to stfu. Let people have their opinions. You haven't got any.MrGhostO1O said:» show previous quotesFRACTURED said:I'm being creative. If they stopped trying to make an MP game they could focus on releasing the best possible single player game. Much easier to add all the things people have requested over the years if they're not constantly worrying about how Update X for offline will ruin Function Y online. They could cater to that part of the market and those hoping for something league-able could finally move on to something with a better development timeframe.Based on the achievements completion many don't play online anyways, better to make 95% of the half the people happy than 50% of all the people...at least for their forums. In the meantime whilst they insist on being all things to all people they'll just have to put up with it, this is the game they have released, if people aren't happy they've every right to vent their spleen.I completely agree. The main reason i have been playing their F1 games was the multiplayer mode and its leagues because there you can drive against real people with different characters and who also like to take the game a bit more serious when they race in the league.Career has always been a side thing for me until this year, where multiplayer does not seem to work at all. That is why i now play career more thatn multiplayer and i honestly would rather have no multiplayer at all than a multiplayer that keeps disappointing me year after year, each time hoping for improvements. In addition, removing the multiplayer mode would create a lot of free space for new career features. - MrGhost010Just thought about an idea to make multiplayer better in response to your idea/history. The ideia of Halo is protect on top of head, but why is protecting the front where is the view of driver?... If someone could help. I would appreciate it. But he died. CavSTiago said:Raalte said:I got a new idea: Option to turn the Halo off. I don't know if I want to watch that thing when driving. Relax, it's just a theory! But... Halo is just ugly because the angle of T-Cam. The solution for Halo that everybody complains, is abolish T-Cam. F1 need of a new cam to show onboard. Maybe for that FOM come back this camera: that's same angle: I totally withdraw what I said, look at Halo on the other camera onboard ... it's a pretty ****! #NoHalo- CavSTiagoI agree it looks ugly. Imagine driving it on the PlayStation. LAL. I wasn't disrespectful to staff so read my comment carefully next time before being judgemental! To explain my comments to you as you were unable to read it properly the first time. If you think everything is great and do not challenge yourself to preform better and better yourself you will not get better! So you shouldn't tell people not to be negative as actually it's that negative thinking that drives people and company's forward! The reason this thread was created surely was actually a negative thinking on past and current f1 games (what was it missing to make it better).
TeenierNeilb69 73 Posted October 21, 2017 Everyone of these new features would likely screw something else, But as we're here, realistic Rolex clock time and dynamic progression of such through sessions. And for multiplayer games only allow host or majority of drivers to proceed to race!!!!!!!!
