turn 1 @ china is a tough corner.. you hit it going hard in 8th, very quickly break and drop 7th and 6th gears.
as the corner continues you keep easing it down a gear. if its pushing to the outside of the corner, dab the breaks a little as u continue down the gears..
til you hit 3rd.  then a little squirt on the throttle, down into turn 2, dab on the break a little if needed.

once u master the corner its a lot of fun.   short answer..go in hot, drop a couple gears, but with each gear drop after, slow the speed of gear drops..
eg: 8th---7th-------6th----------5th------------------4th----------------------3rd.

not like on a straight where you are dropping 8th to 3rd as quickly as possible.
eg: 8th--7th--6th--5th--4th----3rd-----2nd.

You could try it the other way. Just go into time trial and take the corner v slow. Then each lap lean a bit more and entering a bit faster. This will then lead to what Fetal said above.

If you're running on a high enough difficulty and especially using the wheel, don't bother trying to do what the AI does. You simply won't have as much grip no matter the setup. The same goes for the right-hander going onto the back straight, and the double left-handers of T9 and T10. You'll gain back all of your time and then some in other places, like T6, T11, the hairpin and the final corner.

China is a track where you're mostly supposed to understeer in fast corners. Be brave on entry and abuse the engine braking where you can, so long as you don't unsettle the car or slow down too much.
