McLaren Team Mate not getting engine updates?

That's the thing, @SASColfer (my connection currently has some weird issues which prevent me from quoting) - odds are Vandoorne really is just that bad in this game. It's not unheard of, as CM often have a weird habit of giving odd stats to drivers, whether relative to their teammates or relative to their actual skill in real life, and when the latter occurs, in my experience it's often either because the car is better or worse than it should be or because they messed up. Button and Alonso had really low stats in F1 2014 for instance even though that shouldn't have been the case (with Jenson even being worse than KMag - this was even a problem in 2013 with Perez also being better than him).

To really test out if it's the engine (which would frankly also not surprise me given how CM usually go about "fixing" things these days), try and find a corner in a session like Q1 where Stoffel gets exactly as good of an exit as you do (no better, no worse) and then look at his acceleration and top speed. If it's lower, the bug is confirmed. If not, he's just terrible.

And since I can't quote either, I'll also add that the reason it's never going to be a McLaren track is because it's primarily a track where downforce is not very useful. It's why Red Bull always underperform there relative to other tracks in real life. In this game in particular, the engine is by far the most important component on that track, and unsurprisingly Mercedes should still have a better one even with you beating them on upgrades. The gap to Ferrari is mostly explained through Vettel having better stats than Hamilton, which is realistic.

It is the engine I am faster than every car apart from Mercedes' powered cars and Ferrari yet I am 20mph faster on speed traps than Alonso who is 10mph slower than Saubers and any other car. I am 4th in team index literally level with Red Bull(best chassis and best aero) Yet Alonso will finish behind Saubers in most races or just Infront who are 250 performance levels behind. There's no in depth proof needed nearly everyone is saying the same thing. If I come up to Alonso on a straight I can go in lean whilst he has drs and walk past him. He gets passed by about 4 cars per straight and for about 3 seasons in a row has not scored more than 5 points for me yet I am one of the best cars on the grid. He is clearly not getting any engine upgrades and it ruins the fun of the game. He should have the best AI along with Hamilton and Vettel and should be out performing any car he is given which he clearly isn't for anybody I have seen whether it be on here or YouTube or myself. He 110% is not getting any engine upgrades which isn't hard to believe due to the previous McLaren engine bug. Needs to be fixed asap

It sounds like it's just the engine that isn't upgrading though right? I've invested heavily into aero and chassis, and Alonso seems to be getting it alright. He set a purple sector 3 in Russia while I was playing today. That and he is starting to regularly in Q2 even though my car is capable of Q3.

I'm still struggling to think this isn't a bug. I have the same performance advantage as posted in the earlier screenshots in this thread but this was the Canada qualifying. To those that are saying its just Vandoorne's stats, he just qualified P2 in Monaco and finished in the same position.

It’s definitely a bug. Some vestigial glitch from the Honda engine upgrades not taking effect is there since aero and chassis upgrades seem to take alright, and reflect on chassis tracks like Monaco and Spain sector 2/3. I have all engine power upgrades barring a Major and a ultimate, yet Alonso is still 15th+ in speed traps, despite also having 3 weight reduction and 2 drag reduction upgrades

I'm sure it's a bug. I'm the 6th team right now. The last races I had some big engine updates and I qualify now around 12th. I used to qualify 16th max. Alonso still qualifies around 17th. I only have performance and durability upgrades.

It definitely is mate I am level with red bull for 3rd best team and Alonso just won at Monaco on my career(I have best aero and chassis) due to the fact you need virtually no speed and was faster than me. But funnily enough at most other circuits will finish well outside the top ten.100% engine upgrades are not on your teammates car just waiting for this patch to come asap

I think I'm the opposite. I was beating him easily until about 6 engine updates now he's starting to outperform me.

Anything yet on McLaren performance update for teammate? Although I know this seems to not affect everyone as screenshots have shown but for me on PS4 it still does not show my enhancements to teammate.
And Kvyat overperformance, I called out lol now he is gone but he still often out performs Sainz..
Magnusen too though he is doing a little better but the car is mostly to thank there as he can often start ahead of teammate but still manage to loose all his starting performance in the long game. Vandorne is improving his long game too lately although he had the upgrades in Malaysia he is performing better but Alonso still needs to be increased in performance as well as Stroll (neither get into points ever). I know this doesn't seem to mean much to the majority but I do enjoy racing with a little less standard resulting.

I have a problem were my teammate is more then 10mph slower then me when we both run default setups. Mclaren career. Have baught most of the engine upgrades now. Tested it at baku and other places with long strightes. It seams like my temate isn,t getting the engine upgrades but all the others. Xbox one 100% AI

Bit of a game killer really as I want to do up McLaren then move on to Williams But you can't go from Williams to McLaren due to the contract thing where you only get the top teams when you do well, at least in the McLaren at first just outside podiums keeps you within reach of the Williams team often.. With a little intervention..

What do you expect, mclaren engine was bugged on our own car untill they patch it... they didint take the time to check for team mate if the engine upgrade was working... zzzzzz The engine bug on team mate is 100% bugged... When I get a race with alot of corner he can top 6-7th because aero upgrade and 18th when I hit straigth race and I have all the engine upgrade...

Wasn't written in the patch notes which is extremely poor and disappointing. Been waiting for around three weeks for this patch so I can resume my career. Hopefully they have fixed the issue though.

Same here. They said September 25th they were looking into it and if patch notes are anything to go by they still haven't fixed it. Ngl I didn't care for anything else in the patch apart from this as it's very boring and feels unrealistic to be winning races whilst your X2 World champion teammate is behind Saubers every race

Same what's the more frustrating is that I'm the best car on the grid so Alonso will qualify from around 4th-7th and then within 5 laps of any circuit apart from Monaco will be nearly last place due to the fact he gets passed by approximately 5 cars per straight

I don't think its fixed. Just did Austria, qualified 3rd and Stoffel was 1.2 seconds slower.
