F1 2018 - Realistic Game Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hello !

After watching aarav's video in which he said that now is the time for ideas, I decided to write some stuff that's been on the back of my mind since I started playing F1 2017. I've kept things realistic, so no "driver transfers" and "kart, F3 and F2" here:

Career Scenario: At the beginning of your career you can choose to start as:
-Paydriver (double RP, no reputation, not being able to choose Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull, low objectives at season 1 - Need to prove yourself)
-F2 Star (high reputation, tougher objectives - Need to keep high standards)
-Development driver(high reputation with your team, regular objectives, transfer restrictions)

Scoreboard with 3 letter codes: Just like F1 2006 with option to remove

Official F1 graphs

Re-Shuffle every 2-3 seasons: It would improve the challenge to see your team fall down the order, and challenge different teams

Random engine failures for the player: Yes, it is frustrating, but that's part of the game

3rd driver replacements: Replace older drivers as seasons go by (Alonso, Massa, Raikkonen) (3rd and reserve drivers are under contract, so no legal issues there)

Grand Prix Scenario Mode: Based on real life events, for example:
-Baku, Safety car, charge to win with Lance Stroll
-Singapore, 1st lap crash, can Alonso get the podium ?
-Malaysia, can Vettel challenge Hamilton starting last ?

Interview mode: Exactly like F1 2010, change your morale with team ( it gets more interesting if you suffer mechanical failures during the season or getting crashed by team-mate)

Getting fired at the end of a season: If your results are bad or reputation is low, you have to sign for another team

Spectator mode for single player: If you abandon a race, you can still watch it until the end

Like your ideas, I would add:

pre season and in season testing
young driver test (same as F1 2013’s)
more varied development speed for different teams
More helmet customisation

I like the ideas that are realistic here. Really like the pay, F2, development thing, it could be made an option, basically you start like you said, a career, and have the three come up, you choose which one, and it generates a list of teams viable.

The other thing I would like to see back, the test driver like F1 2006. You do a test, if you fail you are a test driver, If you pass you get an offer.

The other thing, bring back media duties, which dependant on what you say, can hurt or benefit your reputation

Add a player made generic team you and your fake teammate are 21 and 22 on the grid. You get to design the livery and the helmet add some sponsors to the car and off you go. They start you at the bottom and you can build through resource points.

And you choose your engine out of the four brands available

How can u expect F2 in F1 game, damn.
F1 = Formula ONE, not Formula TWO
But they are related, Ross Brawn said they were going to make F2 (and presumably their other feeder series) more relevant to F1, so it kinda makes sense to include it. It could be a way to start career mode, make your way up to F1 from F2 (or possibly F3).

we should be able to view the whole crash until we completely stop instead of it just randomly stopping
so if you hit the barrier and you loose your wheel and flip over you can either skip the crash or view the rest of the crash

I would love to see the ability to create your own team and pick whether you start the season as backmarkers middle of the pack or front runners.

You would pick from a few generic car designs but have total control over the livery. Also the ability to import liveries designed by others would be great. Forza implements this really well and it means that if I want to race in a reimagined modern day JPS sponsored Team Lotus then I can!

Is Forza a fully licensed game that contains ONLY real teams though? Doubt it's going to happen.

I sent for they in Twitter but i dont know if will help so i will post here too

most is about career mode

- have some type of level of wear of the pieces, the game has a level of wear of the pieces that greatly disrupts the gameplay

- have some newspaper to give a greater immersion to the circle of f1 ... same was in f1 2006

- have a calendar in the game, sometimes you develop some part of the car and sometimes take too long ... it seems that in the game the races happen in 21 consecutive weeks without interruption

- a pre season to develop the car

- come back with the interviews as it was in f1 2010/11 ... and depending on your answers the morale with your team can change or even hinder getting a contract

- more cutscenes

- more options for customizing the helmet

I would like to see the following changes to career mode:
- winter testing, with objectives similar to practice sessions but with different goals.
- in-season tyre testing etc.
- development of the car is driven by the team, with special testing objectives in practice for new parts before they are fitted permanently to the car. how you do in these objectives determines how successful or effective the upgrade is.
- engine upgrades should be developed by the manufacturers. so if your team is a customer team (e.g. Red Bull) then you get upgrades when the manufacturer develops them and you have no control over this.
- more issues with reliability for the player. Random failures with an option to turn off.

outside of career mode:
- manual control in the pit lane. This is currently the biggest thing draining realism from the experience for me. pit stop practice could also be one of the tests in testing.
- manual slow-down lap, with crowd interaction a-la Lewis at Silverstone.
- track-specific crowds, e.g. lots of support for Verstappen at Belgium, lots of support for Lewis at Silverstone and Texas.
- a more dynamic drying line in drying conditions, making it possible to pit for dry tyres earlier while most of the track is still wet.
- lighting of the track surface itself in night races needs to be brighter/have more glare.
- engine sounds still missing the high-pitched whistle sound that is still prominent in the RL on-board cameras.

lots of little things but each would add to the overall realism.

Hand/wheel view option to turn off.

Useful if played close to the monitor with a real wheel. All simulators already have this option

They should make the career mode a bit more like the MotoGP game. Where you can start in the Moto3 and ride yourself to the top of the MotoGP. I would love to see them adding the Formula 2 and maybe even the GP3. It would be absolutely phenomenal to drive yourself from an ART to a Ferrari. And next to this it would be also very nice to see a young driver programme. So you're driving in a Carlin like Lando Norris, but you're a talent of McLaren and they are watching your performances in F2. They're able to make that a little bit more exciting when they add a battle for a seat, for example betwees Norris and De Vries.

I agree that having divisions to climb would be utterly awesome however wouldn't they then need to spend more money on more licenses to do this plus in design of the other cars including handling and therefore wouldn't this lower the budget available for developing the game which I believe needs more work just to get it to a more stable state? Also it wouldn't be called F1 due to other formulas being included - maybe Motorsport 2025 or similar? 1 for the far future I reckon.
