Poor graphics for 2017 game...

Recommended Posts

Regardless of the various errors that are revealed in this forum, nobody comments anything about the quality of graphics in ps4 and ps4 pro? It looks like slightly better than a ps3 game. I mean, apart from the cars, which are more or less well modeled, the graphic quality of the tracks is horrible! the asphalt is clearly a repetitive pattern that looks very ugly, the trees are horrible, the pianos barely have texture, the grass, the sand ... and a long etcetera.

When I watch games like battlefield 1 running at 60fps looking at incredibly detailed graphics I wonder why we cant have a highly detailed F1 game on Ps4.

A pity.

I may be wrong here but their game engine is EGO. They use EGO 4.0 version for F1 2017, which is same one used in F1 2015 and 16. So if that is the case that would be why there isn't much difference in graphics. Maybe they don't upgrade the engine as often as some others do.

(PS4 Pro) This is one of the biggest faults (for me) in the F1 series... Most other racing games that come out have way better graphics (DriveClub/PCars1&2/Assetto Corsa/Gran Turismo Sport/Dirt Rally!) and it really bites...Hell, even their own company can come out with a game that looks better (Dirt Rally) than any of the F1 games... I thought with a PS4 Pro and a 4K TV F1 2017 would look fantastic but it looks as drab and cartoonish as ever...please get your act together CM and give us a real representation of the sport and not the F1Race Stars version we currently have.

I'm still on the fence if I should buy it now or wait, but I thought F1 2016 looked fine to me. I don't really pay much attention to details around the track because I'm always looking forward at car in front or my racing line.

I think it looks real good on both PS4 & PS4 Pro. Country miles better than the eyesore that is Project Cars 2.

Its funny you mention details.  I just noticed some nice little details while watching a replay of my career race at china.  The way all the pit crews gather stuff up after the cars pit d bring it back into the bay, or how you can see them sitting in the bays watching the monitors. Your name above your own bay.  Little things like that.  Normallyyou never see them cause like you said, youre focused on whats in front of you.

But its nice to know they are there nonetheless.

The game is good. Bugs? Some.  I only do career mode and with the recent patches its pretty soild.  Graphically it looks pretty damn good to me on xb1.  Then again i am in my late 30s.  I started playing racing sims with papyrus Nascar Racing.  The very first one.  So yeah...we've come a long way.

Those little details you don't always see but are truly impressed when you do. That's mostly all I play is Career mode, that's why I was disappointed when codemasters took it out in 15. But Papyrus Nascar racing games were my first racing games. They definitely knew how to make a great racing game, you could tell they took pride in making them.

Then you should get it. Its good fun. Career is a good mix of rpg elements and a decent racing sim thats only gonna get better in the days to come.

..now if only the guys behind PC2 would get their freaking act together and fix that bug show of a game...

Pianos?

I think your standard of graphics is higher than average if you look at the comments.

The only problem is that the game isn't better optimized. Given that console gamers are the primary market for this series, the game looks fine. It's supposed to run well at high framerates, not merely look good at low ones.

And what are you even doing if you're getting the chance to look at the trees? Are you going at 20mph or something? The one time I saw a mod use proper trees (and a lot of them at that), they ended up causing performance issues, and that's in an engine that's both old and decently optimized (rF1).

Graphics are inproved this year I play on xbox (xbox x next month) and theres a clear improvement in terms of environment. The track looks better the grass, the drivers for sure.

Yeah its not on forza or PC2 level but its better which gives me hope that the xbx version will be pretty sweet.

Im not even seeing big dips in performance eithet there is some tearing but less than last year and frame rate dips a little at race start but otherwise it runs solid.

Maybe a ps4 issue?

I keep what I said, it's not about my graphics standards, but about 2017 and yes, simulation and fun are probably enough, but graphically the game is far from being a graphic jewel. Probably do not pretend to be either. In any case the only thing I said in my initial post is that for me, and I speak only for myself, it's a shame to be in 2017 playing a game that has graphics of 2015, when the same company has games like Dirt 4 that are well best, and I insist again, check out Battlefield 1 (2016 game) on PS4 Pro using HDR.

Other than that the game is fine, it's fun, but do not look the other way, it has bugs, lots of it. Many are the ones who suffer them daily in multiplayer, and even in campaign mode.

And please, do not forget all these things, Codemasters has ALWAYS been characterized by making F1 games full of bugs. See for example the horrendous port they made of F1 2011 for Ps3, which looked like a bad game of Ps2, fuzzy, falls frames, bugs ... One month after buying it I threw it in the trash.

I insist, it is my opinion and I do not intend to indoctrinate anyone.

That F1 Race Stars comparison is ridiculous and childish.

And I hope you are playing with a wheel, no assists at all and cockpit cam, because if you're not, you're not even trying to get a "real representation of the sport" anyway.
