Screen tearing still frequent on Xbox One, even after patch 1.9

Recommended Posts

@F1Support

I would like to give my feedback about the game graphics on the Xbox One version.

I appreciate the jump from 900p (F1 2015 and F1 2016) to 1080p, while maintaining 60 fps. As a result, the visuals are sharper now. The game has a good lightning system and the texture quality on cars and track objects, asphalt... is nice.

However, there is an issue which has been reported from reviewers and players (also here, in the forum), and it exists on consoles since F1 2015: the screen tearing.

On Xbox One version, particularly, I found it is way too strong, especially when there are lots of cars on the screen and/or weather effects. Even if I am alone on the track with a clear sky, it is instantly noticiable, especially on Monaco (the worst case).

I would like to know if a patch is planned to correct this (or at least reduce it). Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was necessary to decrease texture/lightning quality just a bit in order to solve the problem.

Thanks for your time!

Can you show a video of it? I'm also on Xbox and I never experienced this.

Funny you say that the lighting system is good.
Imho it too bright. And often bright and dark at the same time.

I have an original Xbox one which is 1.5 years old.
Maybe I don't see it. I don't know.

It's not really Codemasters' fault that the xbox one can't consistently display 1080p at 60fps, you should just buy a ps4 (pro) then

Yeah also had sky flickering and still have dark shadows on some tracks. No screen tearing or frame drops. Also not in F1 2016.

Xbox One X may be the perfect version technically wise on consoles, but it is way too expensive for me at the moment. PS4 Pro is good but I prefer the Microsoft Xbox platform.

I've discovered a way to minimize screen tearing perception: on settings, I'm using 100% on motion blur strenght, camera shake and movement now.

Interesting to know. One S GPU is about 7% more powerful than the regular Xbox One. Probably, this is what makes the difference. GPU Clock: 914 MHz (vs 853 MHz).

I liked the time of day differences. Cannot show a video right now because I study in a city far away from where my family live, and my console is there - I don't travel every month. However, screen tearing is not game breaking. I give F1 2017 a solid 9/10. As a consumer, I am giving the feedback to Codemasters keep on improving an already great game. Let's see what they are planning for future patches and editions. Looking forward!
