Multiplayer crash after session - Online Championship

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am having an issue with the above in that after every session - practice, qualifying and race I get a crash to desktop and so does the other player connecting to the host, the host does not crash to desktop only the 2 guests. So 3 players involved, high spec PC's - 2 running Windows 10 and 1 running Windows 7 - every time crash to desktop after session end. We can reconnect to host and carry on but it is really annoying and wondered if it is going to be addressed? The patch 1.9 eluded to the issue " Fixed an issue where continuing an online championship resulted in a crash" but not sure if this is exactly what we are experiencing. The crash has no error message and nothing in event log, just reset to desktop.

During the session all is well, no lag, no disconnects - all great, until you hit the end of the session.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Lynchy123, how many times have you seen this crash?

What's your Steam ID if you can find it? (Steam > settings > Interface > tick Display Steam URL address bar > Ok > Go on your profile > look at the long number in the URL under Library/Community).

Hi Rachel,

it has crashed 4 times in total I believe, I can easily recreate it - setup Multiplayer session, players connect and crash to desktop after a session ends if you are connecting, host seems to not be affected. No error message just straight to desktop.
Steam ID is http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197970968139/home

@Lynchy123,

Were you playing a saved online championship or a custom MP game?
Are you uploading the crash dump/info anywhere at all?
Are you able to get the Steam ID of your friends that also experienced the crashes?

Thanks :)

Hi Rachel,
It has happened with both Online Championship and a custom MP game, newly created so not a saved game.
I have e-mailed the dump file to custservice@codemasters.com and got a response from Jorn. He sent me a link to steam with details about ports to open for Steam, not sure why I should do this as Steam is fine and I have played other Multiplayer games without issue. He also recommended TCP/UDP port 3074 be opened - I have read this is required for Xbox One and PS4 but cannot see anything about it being required for PC? Besides, would a blocked port cause a crash to desktop?
I was not sure where to send the zip dump file to (not clear on site) so if you want me to send it to somewhere else then let me know.

@Lynchy123, had any of you been playing in a Public Matchmaking session prior to the Online Championship/Custom Games that crashed?

Are those Championships created previously that you were resuming or were they newly created?

Thanks :)

Hi Rachel,

No, I have not done any public matchmaking and neither have the friends I play with.

The championship is newly created, same with custom race - never a saved game due to this issue.
