While seemingly harmless, that's a massive question.

All your call really.

Practice basically seems to have a default setting depending on which race distance you choose.
You can always skip sessions, or fast forward them.
You can pick a team by your favorite color, favorite car type, etc.
You can pick the team that's already at the top of their game.
You can pick the team that's at the bottom and try and get them up to speed.
You can......

Seriously. Just pick one and have a go at it. You can always raise/lower the difficulty. You can always set up another driver and start over.

Me. I went with HAAS. Well...cause I'm a Yank and wanted a challenge. I need to raise the difficulty a bit probably, but I'm having fun finishing better than I should be (Not winning anything, but a couple of podiums).

Just have fun.

There is no right or wrong answer.

Thank you very much for your answer, i have picked renault for my team, mostly because they are a good mid field team to build with, i would also like to do a haas career too:)

This short thread might help you plan an Engine/Gearbox strategy as well. (There may be better threads, but I'm new here myself)

Team-wise, there's no real answer besides driving each car. Yes, the difficulty matters, but so long as you're not naturally below 0% or above 110% (both cases are rare), you should be able to get a good run no matter which team you start with as they all have motivating objectives. Being comfortable with the car that you're driving matters a lot more.

I went with Haas. I have no particular affection towards them or the US as a whole, but like in 2016 it's still an absolute beast of a car with much more potential than its stats indicate, though you have to be a bit of a lunatic to drive it well. If your driving style is more "normal", you won't have much luck with it, and it's definitely one of those cars that just about requires a wheel to get the most out of. The Renault, on the other hand, is a much more "normal car", and the fatness is the only thing that will get in your way, so I tend to recommend that for most players.
