AI overtaking on safety car

Recommended Posts

When the safety car or virtual safety car is deployed, the AI attempts to overtake me in the safety queue. When I retake my position, I'm threatened to give the position back or face penalty. Anyone else suffer this? Codemasters please fix!

I searched the forum, and ended up here, with some armchair warrior telling everyone to use the search feature.  Go figure...

Every year, every F1 version, there are glaring issues like this.  What are their QA teams doing?  Do they even bother with QA?  It irritates me that a company can release a game in this condition at nigh on fifty quid, issue a couple of bug fixes, then completely abandon it because they're too busy working on F1 2018.  If we want the remaining bugs fixed we're expected to wait a year then buy it AGAIN.  It happens every damn year.  F1 2016 had some real nasty ones; random freezes in wet weather, cars flying hundreds of feet into the air during crashes, cars sticking together in minor collisions.... it goes on.  There was even a bug in F1 2016 that's STILL in F1 2017!  Start a race, skip the warm-up lap, and you still have control of the car for a good 3-4 seconds before it goes to the race when really it should either immediately quit, or the AI should take over.  If you quit near a corner, you're going to then crash if you don't realise you're still expected to drive.

Anyway, yes, this seriously needs fixed.  I think Codemasters probably need to change their name - because they certainly aren't masters of code.  I swear to God I will never buy another F1 game as long as Codemasters have their useless hands on it.

You can post that in every second topic, it's true that many of the bugs were already reported and it is repeating, but it was reported mostly on previous versions of the game, and many of them still remains in the game and nothing happens (well, fix is a surprise and working fix is a big surprise), so IMHO it is much better to post a new thread), to again start any Codemaster's activity as they have to read it at least to see, if it is something new, while old topic means they already read that ... It's standard to merge the same topics or at least to close the repeating topics, but they don't do anything, that's why this forum is a mess.

@Senna755 There were many bugs in 2016 and they left it unfixed and we bought it again as 2017 ... But nothing changes if people are going to buy that buggy game every year in hope they will get a polished, finished game with minor bugs (not that alpha builds we bought and we are playing for months or actually years as we are buying the old codebase of the game). I don't want to say that whole Codemasters are bad, Dirt is fun and without problems (at least for me), so IMHO only F1 team (or QA team) is not doing a good name to Codemasters at the moment ... I agree with you on the rest and I am not going to buy any new F1 game from Codemasters as I've already recommended to at least 15 people not to buy it, because the state of the game is very bad. It's two months after release and the game is still unplayable and everytime I've tested it (I mean played it) since the release I ended pretty annoyed. It has a big potential and delivers the worst racing experience ever because of bugs everywhere ...

@coninnes Maybe you can add a system you play on and the game modes info, make videos etc., but we've reported it since the very first days of the game, I think it is the most well documented bug in the game, and still without a (working) fix ... So it is probably not required to do so ...

Same bug happened to me in Japan.
F12017, Patch Level 1.9 on PC with race distance 25%.
2 cars have overtaken during SC phase and I wasn't able to get back my position without getting a penalty.
That is quite annoying!

And another similar unbelievable issue happened at a start crash in front of me.
This crash has caused yellow flag immidiately and it's not allowed to overtake in this situation.
I simply wanted to avoid a crash and moved around it, but was instructed to give back the positions after it.
This happened during 1-2 second and there is not time to manage it.
By the way: The AI has done the same and was able to continue the race without any problem. :(
