Never again

Recommended Posts

I followed this forums long time without posting something now and never again i will buy a New game from Codemasters at release. I am also pissed off how they treating us. For me playing leagues the Most gamebreaking thing is SC Problems. They closing threads and didn't answer about Problems. The only way hurting them is not buying the game anymore. But only problem is most people have forgotten things till next release. I'm still hoping for fixings for 2017. For me for sure i won't buy next years game if nothing happens for this years game!

Unfortunately, people put their own short term gratification ahead of anything meaningful.

As soon as the rumour mill starts hyping the next game everyone will forget very quickly.

I'm just as bad.

After the absolute joke that was the Battlefield 4 launch on ps4 (on all platforms actually) I swore never to buy another DICE developed or EA published game again.

I, and untold others, predicted the end of DICE, such was the anger and frustration at the scale of the problem.

It makes the current CoD WW2 launch look like the slickest thing since hair grease by comparison.

Yet DICE recovered, the game ended up a classic, then Star Wars: Battlefront came out and everyone got annoyed again...and funny how it keeps happening, but just recently the new Star Wars was being attacked for unscrupulous micro transactions...so they never learn.

I just had a race where the first ELEVEN drivers all got grid penalties. It's been neck and neck between me and my teammate (Saintz) all season. Going into Brazil he was 11th and I was 13th. He qualified 12th and I qualified 13th. I go to the race and because of all the  penalties he's now in pole :( I had a penalty (engine parts etc) so started 16th. He finished the race 2nd after it started raining and the light rain bug meant I was losing six seconds a lap so finished last whilst the ai all zoomed round on slicks unaffected . Ruined any realism and spoiled the whole season as he's now uncatchable in the championship after his ridiculous gift podium. Speaking of rain I've had rain every single weekend in my season at some point. It's such a shame because this game could be SOOOO good if it worked. The cars are so fun to drive and the classic cars in career mode is so cool.

@Darkthrone10

Seems as if there'll be no aesthetic updates nor any fixes for the teammate bug this year anymore, who would have guessed?!

Only a small amount of common complaints are left now that haven't been adressed yet, i.e. the dark patches on the screen / the SC bug / the online stability etc., but seeing as things have been going with Codies lately i personally doubt that "all" of those are going to be fixed before the end of 2017.

I'll be damned if i wasn't continuing my boycott of any Codemasters products for the next three years, in other words i've lost all hope for this company.

Seriously this is absolutely ridiculous now......

It's annoying I sold f1 2016 cus of the r and d bug. When f1 2017 came out I patiently waited checking this forum almost daily to see if the r and d worked this time round. When I saw that it did I waited to see if there were any other big issues being raised. There weren't so I brought it. Then I heard about the teammate bug :(
it's so annoying. I can't start with a top team because I get fired if I don't consistently get on the podium (some tracks I win easily & others I struggle to get top 5. I play on 90 and it challenges me which is how I like it). Now I can't start with a lower team because of the teammate bug. I'm tryna think of a work around because the gameplay is great it's just the bugs and silly issues that spoil it :(

Honestly this game is just total bullshit and this will be the last codemasters F1 game I get as well, so many bugs that it is just completely unplayable, every single time a patch is released i think it will work but something else always crops up just completely destroying the experience.

Oh dear, what a pity, nevermind.

Just live with it. The game has faults, all games do. I can't name a flawless game right from the get-go. Yes Codies are keeping us in the dark about things at this given moment, but some of the issues are being addressed. Some of the ones (teammate bug) might be a bigger thing to fix than what we believe it to be. Graphical glitches aren't easy to pinpoint either, it's all in the coding and what not. Yes the irony lies in their name 'Code Masters' but it's not exactly a one day gimmick.

Patch 1.11 might be the key to resolving all the key bugs. Just give it some time, suck it up and just do other things to kill time, there is plenty of championship modes you can do. They're fine as far as I believe.

Teammate bug is not getting fixed. Probably missed this. http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/comment/315339/#Comment_315339
But I mostly agree, some issues are still being addressed, and when the game works (as intended), then it's really fun.
(Although I'm still puzzled a bit about MP situation - how did it differ so much from Beta Testing on release is beyond my understanding of programming.)

This is why it's not getting better - because buyers continue accepting it.

What we accept is what to expect.

I bypassed Monaco because it's a shit track. Bypassed quali, took a new set of components, then simulated the race from 20th two seconds after the start.

Gave me first place.

You don't even have to do the invitational events to get the bonuses. The game promotes failure. It's really laughable.

In my personal case the answer is:

Yes, but i'll buy it second hand for less than 30 bucks in the first month of release just as i did in the past 6 years.

It's a viable option for those who want to boycott the sale whilst still being able to get hands on the product.

Try it out mate. :)

You sound like someone who has defended season passes in the past and thinks loot crates aren't *that* bad since they're optional.

@ topic: What can I say? I haven't bought F1 2017 and, as is the case since F1 2014, it turned out to be the most sensible decision. I don't have to deal with a buggy game and I can appreciate the fact that I didn't throw money at a developer who can't be bothered to fix the core game mode because it is 'too hard'.

@ImDyingYouIdiot I sound like someone who knows what it's like to have rocky starts to things then work themselves back to light. I have never bought a game ever that has been perfect right from the get go. Heck even the well revived Crash Bandicoot series had it's massive bugs and glitches. You just can't demand a result on day 1, you have to give it time for the coders and what not to find the faults and fix them. Cut them some slack is all I say

you have to give it time

(Standard response/reminder...)

F1 2017 is CodeMasters' 9th consecutive F1 game - they've been making the same yearly-iterated core game for 9 years. CodeMasters has been making multi-platform racing games for 20 years. How much more time is needed?

The coders must find the faults in beta and fix them before launch. That's what they had to do before the Xbox 360/PS3 era. We gave them time, Codemasters didn't communicate and 10 weeks after launch they announced that one of the biggest bugs won't be fixed.

I never had any game with bugs wich prevented me to play or cut out the fun. This is the first one for me with a gamebreaking bug. Career is no fun when your teammates car is not equal to yours.
I wont buy a new copy next year. I probably won't do it for next years with any Codemasters game. I gave them the benefit of the doubt this year after F1 2015 en 2016. They blew it

I think a problem is that they try to reinvent the wheel every year.

They don't reinvent the core game engine every year. Seems like they should have a solid grasp by now on how to work with the same engine they've been re-using & tweaking for years.

I think that engine is the source of the problems. Especially the current gen engine.

So was the engine before this one.

Wich is the base of this engine. The problem is EGO. Simple as that. They need a complete new engine.

*Chuckle*

I blame those YouTube "celebrities" who tested the game. I suppose they're too scared to say if there's anything wrong with it.

@1henryw

You can start with whatever team you want. Just don't do engine upgrades since that seems to be the main cause of the team mate bug. Do aero & chassis first. When you start doing engine upgrades slightly increase the difficulty by 1 to maintain balance between you and your team mate. I have to adjust difficulty anyway since I suck hard at some tracks. Or perhaps I'm really good at the other ones.
