FIA World Rallycross Championship 2018

Recommended Posts

Lydden Hill will host the final round of the Global Rallycross Championship this year! Will be very nice to see some quick Beetles and Scooby's run that track again, and of course good to see them pick up a big event now that WRX is going to Silvertstone.

Just on my way here to post that! Very surprising bit of news: I joked about it but didn't think it would actually happen! I shall be going!

They are talking about the 70 foot jump at Lydden, no idea where they are going to fit that. I'll be keeping an eye on the number of entries, as it's possibly a slightly expensive day out if the entries are low.

Brilliant coup for Lydden though!

I didn't know there was a 2018 thread for WRX but back when EKS lost there second driver I had a feeling it was for Bakkerud. I hope Bakkerud can fight for the title, he is one of my favorite drivers.

It think they will put it on the straight after the Joker Lap. That would be amazing! That's one reason why I love GRC. They can build what ever they want and/or need.

Finally you guys will get to see some Subaru's race again :)

The track record for Subaru and rallycross here in the UK hasn't been great the last few years. I am hoping for better from the GRC cars!

I haven't been that bothered about the GRC the last few years, but I am paying a lot more attention to the entries this year. Hopefully they can get a decent number of permanent entries. There has been talk that OMSE won't be back, really hope that isn't the case as I'd really like to see the Civics running at Lydden.

The Subaru's are doing really good in the GRC. They took 4 straight podiums at the end of the season and had 5 overall I think. Big improvement from 2016. 2017 was a step in the right direction. Subaru is getting closer to the leaders with every race.

It will either be there, or going up the hill into the hairpin or down the hill out of it. The latter would by far be the coolest option, but I imagine the joker lap exit option is what they’d choose

Given that someone managed to roll a car on the exit of North Bend last year (without the help of a ramp!) I would be surprised if they put it there.

Exit of Chessons (turn one) or extending the track onto the infield (where the chicane at the start line is now) seem the most likely options to me.

I remember seeing that!

I know they won’t put it there. But how awesome
would it be?

So the Loeb Racing Team is entering RX this year as well, with a completely new Peugeot 208 (separate from the works Peugeot cars) build by LMP2 constructors Onroak Automotive and Oreca, with Grégoire Demoustier driving.

World RX - Sbastien Loeb Racing engage une Peugeot 208

Even though these are renders, if you compare them to last years factory Peugeot cars below you can already spot some differences. So they are not taking old factory cars and creating an evolution from that, but it actually looks like they're doing a new design.

Yeah out of all years it looks the most like the 2014 Hansen one, but still some differences from that one. But it's a render for sure so this is probably just to show the livery.

Yeah, I wonder if it's just a render. Wonder if they will run a second car, as Grégoire Demoustier seemed a bit out of his depth in the World Championship last year.

Yeah it's always a bit confusing. It was the same in the WTCC. Loeb was driving for the Citroen factory team, but the Sebastian Loeb Racing team fielded a similar Citroen with another driver.

Kristoffersson and Bakkerud were both at Mettet this weekend. Kristoffersson just tested (on Saturday), Bakkerud tested and competed in the opening Belgium Championship round on Sunday. Andreas was on course to win the Supercar final, but his car caught fire!
