What team do you support on 2018?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I think I F1 fans are all over the place, some follow one driver whilst others tend to have a few drivers they might like. Some mainly follow particular teams, even sometimes a particular Team Boss, Designer down to a mechanic. I've tried explaining who I follow before and it's some complicated, convoluted madness.

Ferrari. As this year, as last year, as next year and as every year ever since I was born with the wins of Michael Schumacher and the Prancing Horse

Ferrari. Fell in love with the team and with Michael back in the days when they were fighting to get the championship with McLaren and Mikka Hakkinen. Also sympathised with Mercedes until the V6 era when they started to destroy everyone. I don't hate on them or any other driver/team tho.

Nothing for Williams yet? They are a close second to my McLaren team.. Ferrari 3rd..
Secretly I like them all!
Just not keen on Ericsson or Magnussen as F1 drivers. Didn't like Kvyat either but he went so 1/3rd of the way to a perfect grid..

The same team I've been cheering for 24 years now - Scuderia Ferrari.

The passion, the history, and even just the striking red livery are enough reason to support them. And as always: next year is going to be our year! ;)

I support Ferrari but not in terms of complete domination. I like when the season is closely fought by 2 or more teams. Not a fan of these seasons like 3 of the past 4 where one team has such a large advantage they have constructors tied up with a third of a season to go. Didn't like it when Michael was on his run and preferred the seasons where he had to fight a little more.

Hamilton/Rosberg almost kept it interesting for the first 3 years of this new engine formula, but those seasons still felt flat. The big problem now is the engine advantage for Mercedes seemed to grow throughout the year, not a good thing to see after a complete overhaul of the technical regulations. Hopefully Renault sort their engine reliability whilst increasing output. Would love Honda to absolutely kill it and give TR an engine they can fight McLaren with. I'd love if we had another season where 4 or 5 teams could realistically win depending on how characteristics of a circuit suit them.

Fingers crossed. Roll on testing in February. One of my fave times of year.

Ferrari, just for patriotism as I'm from Italy.

I've had a difficult relationship with Ferrari during the Schumacher domination (I always thought that what they did to the poor Eddie Irvine in 1999 was intentional so people wouldn't think "look, Schumacher's 2nd driver is winning the Drivers' Championship!" and that made me lose some affection to them), but I've always supported them after all.
Apart from Ferrari, which I'll always keep supporting no-matter-what, I'd love to see the "historic" teams from the 90s come back to their former glory: Williams, McLaren, Renault (well, it was Benetton-Renault back then but you get what I mean)... I'm pretty nostalgic.

Renault.
I really hope they can put up a proper fight next year and maybe even get Hulk finally his first podium.

Also Williams-Renault :)

Renault. No historical reason, but I like their drivers and I would love to see them destroy Red Bull after the way RB have treated them.

Not trying to start anything, but those who are saying Ferrari and harkening to the Schumacher days of dominance are somewhat hypocritical if they then hate the Mercedes dominance of today... that was equally boring if you aren’t inherently infatuated with Ferrari.

I personally want to see McLaren back. After reading Adrian Newey’s book and reading about their success in the 90s, it makes me really sad to see them where they are. F1 needs them back on top!

Same story for the Williams, exactly before McLaren dominance.
Basically, if Nevey would never existed, Ferrari probably had taken many championships!!

Too late.

I hear this a lot, yet, look at the statistics, mate.
The Merc domination is far worse. And there is one more thing, the Ferrari domination could've been stopped if McLaren wouldn't have been busy sh*tting the bed every other season. There was pretty much unlimited testing, they had the funds, and development was in no way restricted. Yet, they couldn't catch Ferrari. Bad luck.

Now the Mercs clearly did the best job, and kudos and all that toss to them. But it has to be said that their rivals have almost been neutered in the pursuit to catch them.

A ridiculously expensive engine that is hard to build and develop. Guess what happened? Exactly, only one team got it right, and all the others have to play catch up while some teams are hit by the exploding prices for these PUs. And to top it all off, testing is extremely limited as is development. Only this year the teams got at least back the ability to develop their engines freely. A bit too late, though.

It's kinda irrelevant that McLaren *could* have stopped them. Ferrari also have the resources to stop Mercedes in this era. They couldn't. Schumacher won 9 races twice, 11 races once and 13 in the horrendous 2004 season. It was actually more boring than the modern era because Schumacher didn't have to worry about his team mate, whereas we've seen Rosberg and now Vettel challenge Hamilton for the title.

Hopefully more teams can fight for the victory next year, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team might get some more votes now... and Charles Leclerc is in my opinion a big plus for them ;)
