Race Starts

Recommended Posts

Anyone else find that they get swamped at the start of 99 out of a 100 races by the AI?
I play with race wheels and pedals and find it very difficult to get good starts.
It seems like you only need to put a very tiny amount of pressure on the acceleration pedal to get it into the maintain part.
Even with the pad its similar.

Any advice?

It needs a lot of practice. I felt the same but after practising a lot I'm now able to stay ahead of the AI.

Yeah I play with TC on, too and it is a killer at the start - you lose so much power off the line.

Also use a pad as I don't have the time/money/space/commitment to be buying race wheels.

I had that alot. I know I'll never be able to get the optimal revs because I can't get my mind to focus at that however I knew it would be less noticable if I got quicker reactions so I kept practicing my reactions and although I don't get away greatly I am usually able to keep the lead.

Half throttle, hold clutch (if you have it turned on), short-shift into 2nd almost straight after launch... and put your foot down.

That's how I do it without TC turned on, and it works for me.

When I had TC on, it was easy. My starts were always good, without fail. Now it's more challenging, but I'm getting there. It's more realistic, sometimes I have great starts, sometimes terrible. This is how it should be. Bankai's advice is very good, that should help you a lot.
