F1 2017 running 95-100% GPU

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have recently been experiencing frame rate drops and crashes only in the past month or so.  F1 2017 is utilizing 95-100% of my GPU -- which is shouldn't because I have a GTX 1080 Ti.  I have installed the most recent drivers, uninstalled and tried older drivers.  I am still having the same issue.  re-installed game.

First off, is anyone else experiencing this issue?
secondly, if you have experienced this, how have you solved this? if not, anything you think I could try?

Wait are you saying that the game should not use all the power it has? How come?

No he's saying his card is running flat out and the game isn't performing.

It sounds like the game performs like normal as frame drops are completely normal and will happen every now and then.

If your GPU is the bottleneck, of course it will use 100% of the GPU. Why do you think otherwise?

Also, if it uses 100% and the framerate is still too low, that means your settings are too high. I have basically everything on low, in order to get 120-180fps, which is still even too low (180Hz refresh rate). I presume you just put everything to max and assumed because you have a 1080Ti it will be fine.

But that's not the way it works with badly optimised games.

Also, what resolution - even if using DSR - are you running?

had the same issue. have a x390, but the problem is that somehow you frames arent limited so your game is running at 250+ fps which kills the gpu. limit the frames allowed in either your Nvidea drivers or steam to match yourrefresh rate of your monitor (e.g. 60 hz -> 60 fps) and you'll see your gpu usage go back down to about 40-50%
cheers

And you’ll almost certainly get micro stuttering and input lag. This is why people turn vsync off.

Yeah but running a card at 100% for prolonged periods of time will shorten the life of the card. In some cases these things are close to 1000 dollars.
