CodeMasters Unwilling To Make F1 Online Multiplayer Clean

Recommended Posts

Hey it's me again...

I was just online for a few hours playing F1 online, and for the most part I was in fairly clean races although a few drivers were getting DQ's and so on.

The last 3 races I was in I barley got 500 metres from the start line when some unsporting person either break check me or other drivers and later in the race zig zag from left to right to left to right and crash me out completely and a few of my friends who were in the lobby was watching them doing that car by car regardless of who's winning or not.

So I am now thinking..... Do I take this matter to FIA who I assume give CodeMasters the contracts to release and sell these games cause it's very clear to me that CodeMasters have absolutely no desire in 250 years of Sunday's to put some effort in and stamp out the drivers who only race to crash which is bad in its self.

Now as I'm typing this I'm uninstalling the game as we speak and I have absolutely no desire of reinstalling, CodeMasters owes a lot of people an apology cause from what I can see they couldn't care less, they smile when the money comes in but do absolutely nothing to keep their sales up, infact no they're doing the absolute complete opposite by not listening to the players who WANT to race CLEAN DRIVERS and NOT CRASH BANDICOOT DRIVERS!!!!!

After playing GT sport online,  that's the model every other online racing sim should  use. Ranking system with points for clean driving and lobbies controled so only players of that rank get in.

So the Terrorists win. Good job. FIA/FOM is not gonna act on this subject, but feel free to give it a try. Once again, if you are looking for good, clean races, join a league or setup a private game with your friends and add some AI. That's how we do it. Don't blame Codemasters for idiots spoiling your game, that's cheap. Creating a system that 100% rules out these kind of idiots is very complicated or impossible. iRacing and the above mentioned GT Sport do a good job.

Don't see there is any way they can ban people except if they use cheating methods.

There is nothing to force anyone to play the game in a particular way. If a load of people want ot get together and have a demolition derby its up to them - just as if a load of clean racers want to get together and play in a particular way it's up to them. I don't see any over arching authority saying how the game should and shouldn't be played.

I think the licence method is a good idea. Of course you still get a lot of complaints about how the licensing works but at least it helps group like minded people together and with a yearly title there is a chance to develop the licence methods. Otherwise the only option is to go for organised league racing.

From my experience avoid the public lobbys ranked matches leaderboards always bring worst out of players there's always clean driver's in the custom lobbies! also bad drivers always join 5lappers sessions and use abs!

tip if your the leader of pack and someones trying wreck you on purpose just lag out you find yourself in race with ai.. its not cheating if you are already winning lol

What can you do about it?

Use a system that automatically detects when someone tries to ruin your race on purpose?

Simple software can read minds, right?

Yeah that sounds really simple (I'm not a technician) so I really don't know how easily and quickly CodeMasters would get it set up, and themselves get into a lobby of their own and go all sorts of crashing to sense what's accidental and what's out and out deliberately wrecking people.

This is why I never play multiplayer.

Which is sad cause in all honesty you do get good racers but most aren't realised cause some idiot has ended their races

...Wait is that a serious answer...

Well yeah it's aimed to be anyway, just lets say 5 CodeMasters Development Team spend time teaching the systems what's deliberate crashing and what's accidental crashing would improve the game a huge amount, and if in doubt they can look through the F1 archives for crashing in the Modern F1 from say 2013-2017 or earlier in the 2000's and then it's a case of reliving them in their development and punishing the ones deemed deliberate by instantly kicking them from that lobby.

I know it's just a game but it is a game that needs sorting out, why can't they do something GTA do, Rockstar have a system in place where consistently poor sporting players are in lobbies with players a like and after a while if they've behaved they get put back in General Population, I love nothing more than meeting new people on the game it's a good feeling but most good drivers get kicked (silver ranked 45+) are regularly being kicked from lobbies simply cause they've won most of their races or they survive the kick so idiots end their race and unfortunately I feel CodeMasters condone that behaviour and its hugely disappointing

...Do you really think it would be easy to do that? Neural networks are never easy to do and to teach them why this driving is right and why that isn't is almost impossible. Also the performance impact for each player would be huge if they would keep it learning on the background.

Also there is nothing prohibiting intentional crashes anyways. You would need way too much manpower to go through all incidents, so it's just easier to not have any rules.

E: Let's look at google. Their neural network is demonetizing automatically videos. If they can't get that to work properly, then Codies' have no chance.

Performance would probably be a major issue. Dedicated (paid) servers or league racing is the easy way out. And, still impressed by the iRacing system.

What's fun is when the wreckers generally do the same thing to try to stop you from making an overtake on them and you can cause THEM to wreck by faking them out. I crack up whenever I manage to outsmart one of them.

As for cleaning up online they seem to have started a leveling system for online. It seems like it would be as simple as setting up a system where you level up as a reasonable driver as you go races upon races without intentionally wrecking people or driving like a madman and then you have lobbies that have rank requirements. Then you leave the wreckers to get matched with each other to play their own game. The way it is now you generally need to deal with the wreckers but I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to separate them from people who actually want good clean racing.

Honestly, this problem will never fixed. It's not an issue with F1 but humanity.

I remember playing the multiplayer beta and there was only one single lobby, so I joined it.
The two guys playing there were friends and tried to take me out multiple times.

We're talking about a closed beta that people who want to help with the development of the game signed up for.

Join a league and you'll never look back.
I'm only ever available to play between 11pm-1am GMT, and only on weekdays. That rules me out of pretty much any league I've ever seen...

I used to race a few USA Leagues when in a similar situation, many moons ago when having 100ms ping to the host didn't break absolutely everything.

Hey I was one of the two guys and I still want to apologize as I wasn't actively trying to crash into you. The one who you call my "friend" (yes he was in my friend list but I basically had 7 testers as friends that we can race at the same time) for some reason decided to do that. Basically after I saw him try to take you out, I just went straight into the grass in the second last turn. Your message to me wasn't the nicest thing to read (as it would get removed here for example), but I understand the frustration you had at the time.

I think the story went about that the other guy ruined his race, so we started to test damages (bad place to do so I know) and as we were going to restart anyways and not going to race, I guess he decided that it would be funny to crash into you. Neither of us hit you in the end.

Sorry.

No way that was you lmao.

The best part about the situation was that I matrix-dodged, whoever it was, and got a warning for causing a collision because my sidepod was touched.

I may still have video footage of that, not sure. Not allowed to publish that anyway I guess.

Well I mean the description is accurate enough for it to be me. Except if you had 2 of those kinds of incidents. But well anyways at least I said sorry to you about that one incident we had in beta.
