Can't play in any mode. No AI, no control over keyboard or pad

I updated the CUE and the problem remains.

Don't want to force a point but this software / controller is known buggy with Intel chipsets. Try motherboard firmware, keyboard firmware, everything. Try USB 2.0 ports as well.

Microsoft dropped the ball with this update. Resume from sleep and no keyboard on my laptop, using on-screen keyboard.

Yup, this is what I did to prevent the problem from recurring. As @Daniel2211 stated, the update will reinstall itself if it's removed, so using the Microsoft tool to hide the Update is the only way to fix this problem.
