If F1 2018 becomes a game, this needs to be added

Recommended Posts

if it's represented correctly it really isn't that much of a visual block. I think that thing around the antenna on the red bull was worst because it would be right where your looking when ur following a car in a straight line. If the game includes VR aswell it'll be fine. Baring in mind that fov is also incorrect and many of us will run driving in different positions aswell. But at the end of the day no matter how shit we think it all is there is minimal chance of there being an option of getting rid of it because of the sponsors that are on it.
Unpopular opinion, I think it's actually ok because we've never seen the cars without it so we'll just get used to it being standard.

Well I only drive in cockpit mode and if the Halo cannot be removed or hidden from the view then I simply will not buy the game and I'll stick to F1 2017.

Looking straight down the pit from this camera, you cannot see the track at the end as it's blocked by the halo support. Therefore you wouldn't see a car down there. This is even true when going down the straight. Travelling at high speed on track on a straight and if an object or car was stationary you'd end up smashing into it seeing it too late and it would ruin your race like the idiots online (in the game I mean).

I just feel this camera view clearly blocks out a lot of what you'd actually see with your own eyes as a game cannot produce what your eyes would see. Don't forget the camera doesn't move like your head does either so that doesn't help look around the support. Not for me I'm afraid!

"I demand full simulation & realism, not arcade trash for kids!..."

"...I'm not buying it if I can't remove the (realistic) halo."

Strange how some people seem to care so much about visual aspects (halo, official HUD, alcohol sponsors, etc.), but they hardly seem to care at all if games fail to reliably function properly. Boycott over a halo, but continue buying more buggy games??

I don't really get this comment. Sure, people want the cars to look as much as their real life counterparts, but halo is just an annoying thing blocking your view. Sure, safety aspect yada, yada. But you don't need safety in a video game. So they could add a feature to remove it, because the only purpose it serves in game is being annoying. That is if there's no issue with licensing with that.

About the bug part, the game was fine for the most part during the beta. I myself and propably a lot of others preordered it after seeing how well it worked in the beta. Most of the issues came later, especially patch 1.12 as some people mentioned. So there really was nothing wrong with buying this one, for the most part. And regardless of the issues, there were plenty of small improvements in pretty much every category this year.

I'd really like to see them use a new engine. Maybe that'd even help with some of the problems. We've seen some bugs that were more or less the same in previous games and it seems like they often break something when trying to fix something else.

However, you will not see a new engine until we get a new console generation. Pretty much no company would make 2 completely seperate games on different engines, and current consoles are limited with their capabilities.

It isnt going to block things anymore than the things already mounted on the nose of the cars. If you use a correct low driving position you already deal with that example and cant see around the antennas and so one.

I have to disagree I'm afraid. The halo support is thicker and closer to the driver therefore obscures your view even more then the aerial on the nose does. Plus from the video posted, I feel it blocks out more of the environment (above and to the left and right of the support) and feels like you might as well be in a helmet cam. Just doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid.

I'm looking forward to Turn 1 at Austin and Eau Rouge this season. Any malarkey at the top and guys coming up those hills will need to keep their wits about them. Think Danny Ricc has mentioned that too

Dont you guys want the gameplay for a game called f1 2018 to represent the cars for the 2018 season? Your going to see past it because thats is what you naturally do. Just like you look past the things mounted on the nose of the cars already. The cars have halos now, thats just the way it is.
Lol. Maybe on a 32" tv. On a 60" tv, that halo centre strut becomes a 2" black bar down the centre of the screen.

Concerning the real drivers, a car going uphill like at cota and spa compresses the driver downward in the seat. Thus making their vision even more below and lower under the top bar.Taking it even more out of their line of sight.  If anything that moment of being compressed means not seeing over the steering wheel causes more problems than anything. As far as the center bar and real life, sit in front of a TV and hold one or two fingers up in front of your face and see how you can still see the entire tv screen when looking at the TV. Of course still the game wont work like your eyes do in real life
