If F1 2018 becomes a game, this needs to be added

Recommended Posts

Everyone has been hating the Halo ever since it was introduced in the new rule and regulations in the next season of F1 2018, if Codemasters made the F1 2018 game, they need to add the "No Halo" option. It justs removes the Halo from the car

It's not too bad, it just looks extremely annoying. Unless you use cockpit cam (which nobody does), where it actually obscures your sight and makes it harder.

If they have a "no halo" option, it will only be for cockpit mode. I've seen T-cam onboard footage of cars with the halo and to be honest it looks totally playable. Doesn't look good, but playable.

You'd be surprised, a lot more people play in cockpit view than you'd imagine.

I'm 71 and always use cockpit. Surely you 'young uns' have better awareness and reflexes. Surely it's the only  way for realism  ? T makes it too easy

It should be an assist option to hide the halo as for some people they may struggle to see past the halo.  Personal, I drive in cockpit view and I wouldn't mind the challenge of the halo however when playing just for a laugh, the halo could get annoying.

I said this elsewhere, I believe the teams can sell the space on the halos for advertising, and I'm pretty sure one of the main stipulations of the FOM license is that all sponsors, except alcohol sponsors, must be represented on the cars. So if a team says there is, say a Santander sticker on their halo, they can't remove it in the game.

It's only "realistic" if, in real life, you have no peripheral vision and can't turn your head. T-Cam obviously isn't realistic either, but on a single screen setup it's a closer approximation of what it's like to drive a car.

Proximity arrows help out. Also, you can look around, or did they remove the feature to look around? Because that'd be news to me.

#1 Reason for using T-Cam is apex visibility, regardless of what people claim.

What do you mean cant turn your head? I turn my head all the time in cockpit view to look to the side of me and check the mirrors. All kinds of videos showing players doing that in various other racing game also.

Did you just say Tcam is closer to driving a F1 car than cockpit view? If so then you have a completely wrong idea of what you see sitting in a open wheel cockpit. Your immediate peripheral vision is filled up with just seeing the tires that stand higher than you are. Making you not be able to see off to the side much because you cant see over the tires.

Don't you turn them off and use Mirrors? I always hated them. They just say "Hey this AI is about to assault you"
Just trying to suggest a solution for the "OMG COCKPIT CAM IS 2 UNREALISTIC CUZ U DUN SEE ANYTHING" excuse.

Well what I'd say to this is, for the player's view and player's car only, the halo be transparent to give the driver better visibility. All other cameras i.e. replay cameras or driver's looking at other cars (external from the player car) show the halo perfectly present, visible and non transparent. Sorted!

I mean, its not like the sponsors are going to be on the inside of the halo for just the driver to see, they'll be on the outside and so only external cameras need to pick up the halo.

Dont you guys want the gameplay for a game called f1 2018 to represent the cars for the 2018 season? Your going to see past it because thats is what you naturally do. Just like you look past the things mounted on the nose of the cars already. The cars have halos now, thats just the way it is.

That maybe the case but just because you like the look of them doesn't necessarily mean everybody likes it as well. It's a subject open to debate with the majority of opinion thinking it's a piece of crap. Like it or not which I hate too say as you say it's the way things are unless a better option from the FIA is found.

Well I only drive in cockpit mode and on PS4 pro so no mods and if the Halo cannot be removed or hidden from the view then I simply will not buy the game and I'll stick to F1 2017.
