Recommended Posts

I now understand the " no VR no buy " people , I  have a Rift and I will never go back to playing racing sims without it !

I am also going to chip in on this, i also wont buy unless it has VR supported.

Once you go VR in racing sims, you cant go back! which in some instances is a shame, as i loved WRC7, but soon after buying it, i got a Rift and now just cant enjoy anything other than VR racing.

I would love this F1 series to have it, but i wont hold my breath (please prove me wrong CodeMasters), as i believe they arent fussed about anything other than the console market, which cant run VR at the level required... (i will be really happy to eat my words!!)

On a side note, if CodeMasters had the same mentality of SMS,  Kunos Simulazioni etc, they would 100% make it support VR, as they would want their product to be the best it can, which, means adding VR!

I understand Codemasters is relatively small company and they cant justify the investment, but they’re doing such a great job and helping F1 brand through fan engagement that F1 new administration show just pay for its development. @fom @libertymedia are you listening?

Im afraid thats basically not true IMO. They are not a small studio, when you compare them to all the other studios that produce racing sims. Also, factor in it would mean guaranteed sales from the VR crowd, that would easily cover the costs, just do some simple maths with potential VR users.

It will purely come down to laziness and lack of pride if its not implemented.

Don't actually think it's as simple as you think. How many VR users are there that will be a guarantee to purchase the game if VR is implemented? You can't possibly know the answer to that.

Anyways this is not to say don't implement VR but your statement as a justification for it is flawed. Nothing is guaranteed in this business.

no VR = no buy

its as simple as that for me

Thanks for sharing that with us. I wonder what you played before the arrival of VR?
So I guess you are fine racing with  your keyboard only? You know from when there where no steering wheels available for PC?

The amount of elitist comments here astounds me.

"No VR = no buy", give me a break. Is that your stance on everything now? You're going to miss out on great games because they won't support VR?
What did you do before VR? You do realize that it is completely acceptable to enjoy more than one type of media?

It's okay to have PS4 and Xbox One. It's okay to have a console and a PC. It's okay to play VR and non-VR.

Stop closing doors.

did you ever try VR ? if not  try it and you will understand why VR in a racing game is as important as having a steering wheel , after playing in VR you simply cannot go back to playing on a monitor .

Though I'm not a VR user myself, I respect the dedication of the "no VR = no buy" crowd because at least they've got the fortitude to send a message to game companies by voting with their wallets.

I wouldn't expect game companies to spend on building VR support into their games if they don't anticipate making that money back (& then some) through sales. If VR was cheaper to develop for and/or if the VR customer base was larger, then I might guess there would be more games with VR support.

The only way VR buyers can hope to get more VR support in more games is if enough VR users vote with their wallets to convince game companies that supporting VR would be more profitable than not supporting VR.

I sure wish there was such a dedicated "high-impact bugs/issues = no buy" crowd that would vote with their wallets too instead of repeatedly funding more buggy releases year after year. ;)

I have played with VR and quite frankly I have no problem going back to playing on a monitor. VR is nice yes but the resolutions aren't there yet. As for the No VR no buy thing, unless a game is specifically made for VR meaning it was never intended to be viewed on a monitor then I agree with @peyt0n89 and others it is not the be all and end all reason for not buying a game.

Codemasters have a big enough challenge as it is to produce a functioning F1 game after several iterations without trying to introduce VR.

Well you are one of the very very few which can happily go back to playing pancake racing games / sims after experiencing VR. Basically going from being sat IN a car, to playing on a flat panel in 2D only... fair play to you if that doesn't bother you. im jealous of you for you lack of "bother".

With SS and sharpening effect, the resolution really doesn't matter after a while, you adjust to it and it becomes a non-issue.

I like how you seem to know every VR gamer and what each and every one of their preferences are.....that must be a busy life you have there! ?

That's only true if they actually vote with their wallets. I have seen so many here making the same hollow statement, but once the hype train is moving so is their dedication.

Actual I do sit in a real car every day and quite frankly the artificially bright glow interior effect that is present in most VR cockpits is annoying as that is not how it is in real life.

Lack of "bother"? I actually like to think I am flexible in my view of life and don't limit myself to an all or nothing option. Don't get me wrong I am not against VR, and if the option was there yes I would quite possibly use it but as it is I like driving the F1 "Dream" more that worrying about if it is VR or not.

Oh and I actually have a 21:9 aspect ratio curved screen so it is not quite a pancake.

Agreed. Actions speak louder than words, money talks louder than requests & complaints, and there are a lot of people whose mouths say one thing while their wallets say another.
