VR support in F1 2018?

Except its not, each year they do a survey and VR is the most requested feature and has been for 3 years.
I'd stake my mortgage on "working safety car" being more requested this year than VR.

Love how people that disagree with a counter argument to their flawed statement 'flag' thethe comm rather than just disagree ?

The graphics in F1 are getting pretty high-end these days, I would expect VR would need some compromises graphically, that's probably half of the issue implementing it. Not that it couldn't be done.
Pcars2 has a lot more demanding graphics and has VR support. Myself I won't be buying another Codemasters F1 game until they add support.  I've been here since the beginning and bought it each year, but I have no interest in playing a racing sim without VR, as it doesn't give me the same buzz.

I've seen people say the current spec engine doesn't have VR support like the last one, but that's a load of rubbish. Why would you downgrade an engine capabilities with a so called improved engine. It seems to me they just can't be bothered to support VR, each year its the most requested feature, each year its totally ignored.

@JosephSpacek

Not to mention that they quite pleasantly did make VR possible for "Dirt Rally" which runs on the same "ego engine" as all the other Codemasters games.....

I just hope they loose the licence and fast ! its a good thing that their is a great mode for Assetto Corsa , Formula Hybrid 2018 , but I still want an official F1 game whit all the bells and whistles including VR ! this years game is the first I am not buying and will not buy another until they do like all the major racing games , sims , and  support VR

It has common ancestry, but it's not the same one. The Dirt Rally version is closer to the previous-gen console engine, and optimised for far fewer vehicles on screen at once. The F1 version was largely rewritten for F1 2015, and has never been able to sustain particularly high frame rates except on more powerful PCs.

I'd say that's the main concern: fast physics rates, multiple cars on screen, debris, pit crew, etc etc, VR may be possible but the graphics would need to take a hit (especially if they wanted PSVR).

Just another No VR no buy customer letting codies know they are missing out on my money. The game looks awesome too but i decided not to buy racing games without VR support because us VR nerds are a growing community. Anyhow its only a matter of time when we are all VR nerds.. Apart from the pukers there gonna be left behind left in the 2d world, muhaha muhaha muhahahahaha.

Ummm... Dirt Rally used the old EGO engine. Dirt 4 was the first Dirt game to use the "All new engine" EGO3.

Dirt Rally isn't also the first Codemasters game to have VR. GRID: Autosport had experimental VR, but that also uses the old EGO engine.

I've played F1 2017 on PS4 Vr since Christmas. The resolution isn't quite there, but its way more fun to drive, and I'm not going back. I can't really tell that much difference between F1, and Gran Turismo that is supposedly optimized for VR.

Finally it's here!!!
Last week I drove F1 in VR on Suzuka!!!
Unfortunately, it was the F1 Mercedes 2017 car for 2.000.000 credits in Gran Turismo.
But yeeee, that's good fun, intense and worth every credit!! Still hoping Codemasters works on this.

Having used a 5 portrait monitor setup in the past for racing and flight simulators, I recently took the plunge and sold it all and went over to a WMR Samsung Odyssey headset, Basically now, I'll never go back to flat screens, even losing out on thousands of pixels in the process, the effect of the increased immersion makes racing much easier and more realistic, as the ability to turn your head going around tight bends makes a massive difference, and judging gaps for overtaking during a packed corner is excellent.

This makes me wonder about the logic of not including this feature.

Potentially there must be many more people with VR headsets than multi-screen setups, and like me they probably buy any triple A title that even supports VR! With millions now using it, I really don't understand the mentality of not supporting it, when other games, such as Project Cars and Assetto Corsa have had the feature for 4 years in the case of the latter example.

For example, you just got some money from me for this very reason, I've also purchased Dirt Rally recently just because it had VR support. I'd advise that Codemasters does this, as it will boost sales, as many of us love the F1 license and the quality of your games in terms of the overall gaming experience with its tie ins to current motorsport.

Come on Codemasters - your game is far superior to many other offerings in their F1 races... lets see VR support added!

Is it true Dirt 2.0 is also forgoing VR? I enjoy the Jimmy Broadbent VR stuff.

If you have a PSVR , you can enjoy more F1 game immersion by using it with screen set at "Large" and a FOV comfortably adjusted to allow you best side mirrors view in cockpit mode.
