F1 2018 ideas

i feel the engineer in the f1 games is restricted , like in 2017 you ask for a vehicle status update and they just tell you that fuel is good or bad and tyres are okay not looking to warn , they should tell you about oil levels , engine temps and so on like in real life cars struggle behind other cars because there engine temps go high and they have to manage it by either backing off or staying out of slip stream , yes they have this effect in the game but it only effects your engine slightly where as in real life the driver has to really manage these and decide what actions to take where as in the game you can just drive normally , I also feel that the engineer should motivate you more by saying for example the car in front is on older tyres than you , hold off for now and manage your tyres and then go at them in a few laps or later in the race , especially towards the end with few laps left to go.

in Australia start of his new season Lewis Hamilton asked his engineers if he could ‘go for it’ I feel this is an important aspect because your team should also help you make decisions on these things they should be communicating with you , on 2017 game you ask for ‘more updates from your engineer yet they still hardly talk to you? They just give such simple answers , I feel they need to help you , yes it is down to you to manage your race and think of strategy but with so much more information from your engineer this can help you develop your race a whole lot better, you should also be able to ask your engineer if you think that you should switch strategy yes you can change it yourself and it’s with you to decide that but it can just help you that little bit more plan your race plan how you need to drive. 

With the the game itself here’s a few points I think they should do for the f1 2018 game...

-optional setting - where you can develop mechanical or technical failures more during the race such as water pressure too high or oil problems just realistic problems that you can see in real life where it makes drivers having to stop and retire the car but should be an optional choice as some players just want to drive a race 
— make the ai more challenging in battles.. such as dive bombing or under cutting you and defending there position better as even on ultimate level it seems easy to over take a car 
— weather red flags or red flags in general (optional setting) they should add this in but as an optional turn on or off setting because you do get some people who want it realistic where a big crash happens in the middle of the track but just a safety car and the cars are cleared within 3 laps , they have managed to make you miss some time in practice or qualifying when there is damage to the car so they should be able to do it with a red flag 

— victory lap when you win the championship or allow you to control the doughnuts that we see in the cut scene 

— engineer advice , when cars behind you put they could be going for a undertake pit and your engineer should relay this information to you and give you the option of putting next lap by saying that they have pitted and make it tactical such as if your the race leader and the team behind you pits and your team mate is behind them then maybe put your team mate or you to counter attack the move made by the opposing team 

— ai pitstop tactics , the ai always seem to stick to one standard tactic and you know that if you stay out or put them few laps earlier that you’ll still beat them in the race but if the ai have tactical pit stops it causes you to react to it to not loose out later on in the race 

— tyre performance , this could range from loads so here’s a few , drivers may struggle on a set of tyres or have blistering pace on them , you see this in real life vettel at Australia was struggling a bit on the super sorts but when he went onto the sides he found it better and easier they should adapt this into the game where a tyre may effect your car , it may seem worse or better.
- tyre degradation or flat spots , we need to have these in because the tyre should have standard graphics that they down show any form of degradation or flat spots until you’ve gone over 50% tyre wear when still only a slight line shows.

— DEFINATLEY needs fixing , how ai move out the way under a blue flag they never really slow down for you until they’ve already gone on the racing line into a corner where they slam there brakes on mostly making you crash into them , this needs to be fixed 

— winter testing , allow players to optionally take part in winter testing where you can learn the car or have it so it actually is a test kind of situation where your performance in winter testing sets up your performance of the car for the rest of the season so if you are fast in testing then you have less options in r&d for pace and speed and power and you then focus more on other aspects and vice versa 

— crashes need to be more effective rather than just having a crash and then the cars disappear within a lap or go into ghost mode have them sat there for a few laps , set a severaty of the crash and have it randomly effected so if it’s a heavy crash the safety car isn’t out for 5-6 laps whilst they clear the car off track or any debres left or if it’s just a retired car the safety car isn’t only out for 2-3 laps but have it attached to the type of crash 

— tyre punctures occur more with contact between cars or walls or because tyre pressure is too much 

These are just a few ideas I had whilst playing the game today again please feel free to comment or even add your own ideas

i like your ideas, especially the tactics aspect between Driver and engineer.

For winter tests i would like to improve the car together with the Team. This should define your Standing in the grid for the next year. if you retired six times or more you will work on reliability first. For McLaren you will have more top Speed and so on. Could result in different test programs for winter testing.

I would like to have more failures at a weak car. I started my career at Sauber and in real life if you ask the Drivers about there plans for the race they mostly will answer i will finish the race. Could be implemented as an Option, because some Players maybe will not have this Feature.

All things you can Change in MFD manually should have an voice command. For me it would be far easier to tell the Team i would stay with Inters for example as to fiddle in the menue with Buttons.

I've heard about tyre punctures due to debris, but i don't know if it's true. It would be great to be carefull after an accident to not get any tyre punctures due to debris on track. Flat spots on tyres should be implemented and you should feel it with FF. At the Moment hard breaking has no big effect. a Little bit more tyre wear, but in my opinion way to less.

The test programs for fuel saving and tyre wear doesn't really affect your race strategy because driving in a race is totally different from driving the programs. The strategy for the race should be defined together with your engineer due to Long runs during practice.
