Is this a preview of F1 2018

Recommended Posts

U mean the menus? Possibly but I very much doubt it. It looks more like something they just made for fun like they have in formula e

I believe all the footage of the actual game is from the 2017 game as I don't think Codies are far in development of F1 2018 yet anyways.

Yeah, it's F1 2017, you can see the McLaren car of 2017... And the HUD is different of the game, but should be just to show the video.

I've read some daft stuff on here but this one takes the biscuit.
How so?

its just to make it spicy for the viewer. I don's think it will be in-game. Just some video layers....

The game is F1 2017, the menus are just something Liberty Media cooked up. It doesn't have anything to do with the F1 2018 game.

Looks like '17 assets and they have cut the screen down to a box, to cut out all the codies HUD Menu items to add their own. Can't even see the mirrors, which is good because IIRC they looked horrendous after one of the updates anyways, and were hidden by stupid HUD placement.

Well it's either that or the native sim F1 drivers use for training. But what set me off on this quest is the driver selection icons at the beginning of the hot lap that begs the question, why would an in-house training sim have such a driver selection? I think this is a small preview of F1 2018 and not snippets of F1 2017 as that will take some effort to create, as it makes more sense to create something like this out of current code under development. I think its safe to say this IS a preview of F1 2018 and the track graphics looks so much more realistic and I welcome the numbered corners on the track legend, especially in Time Trial mode. Confirmation from Codemasters, of course not! LOL!

I hate to be that one guy, but the game footage looks to me exactly as F1 2017 does. The driver selection cutscene doesn't actually need to be part of the game, it could simply be a Libery Media graphic used to introduce the circuits and drivers... also, the exact same graphic rearranged is used on their Instagram stories and I don't think they would be able to convert in-game footage to vertical...
So yes, I think the intro is just produced by Libery Media and the game is F1 2017. Sorry not sorry

It obviously is made by Liberty Media. Game footage is direct from 2017 - wheel HUD is same, sounds are same and everything is same; probably because this year's game is still in early stages and no proper version of it is ready yet. At least Liberty is making some great intros for these laps.

It'd be great to see Libertys "official" intros and "official" HUD being implemented into Codies F1 2018 game this time, it's a fresh start for both imho and Codies have got the chance to get back on track of creativity if they have enough ressources to spend.

Looks like they used a TS-PC rim and T3PA Pros with the middle pedal face removed. Every pro makes like me and uses the left pedal ;)

Fuzzed because McLaren / Logitech sponsor deal. Oops.

Visible glitch in T2 and 'Unable to upload to the leaderboard at this time' message bottom of screen end of lap. :'(

This is definitely from 2017 I believe the only 2018 footage we've seen thus far has been from Monaco with Leclerc. But we will see more eventually though.
