GRID Autosport [Linux]: Cropped in full-screen mode with nVidia Transform Filter

Question

GRID Autosport can’t be played with no blur via the nVidia Transform-Filter feature because the rendered image is cropped instead of being visible entirely.

For example, at the game resolution (ViewPortIn) of 1920×1080 (Full HD) and monitor resolution (ViewPortOut) of 3840×2160 (4K), only the bottom-left 1/4 part is visible.

According to Aaron Plattner from nVidia, this is because the game misinterprets data received from the RandR software subsystem.

Given that mouse cursor is hidden when running the game in windowed mode while the game window is always forcedly centered on the physical-monitor-resolution, it’s currently impossible to play the game with no blur at non-native resolution using the nVidia Transform-Filter feature.

Examples of games that work correctly (rendered image is visible entirely) with nVidia Transform Filter applied:

  • Dungeons 2,
  • Oddworld: New’n’Tasty,
  • Satellite Reign,
  • This War of Mine,
  • Trine 2.
