Well Monaco Used To Be My Favorite Track...

Recommended Posts

I don't get what gives with Monaco in F12017. The hairpin turn is impossible. I don't know if it's the wider cars, or they just didn't calibrate the thumbstick properly for PS4, but it's driving me insane. I've never had problems on this track in any f1 game since PS1, but now it's impossible. And to make matters worse, if you can even manage to inch through the turn cleanly, you lose so much time that it's impossible to stay in the race. I'm on the second season and I thought my upgrades might've helped. Not in the slightest..

Try to adjust the turn radius for Monaco, that did the trick for me (wheel user too).

You have to mount the kerb, that will basically turn your car around the corner by itself, if you do that then the corner is perfectly doable. Also remember that you can only take it with 50 km/h, if you go into it with 100km/h you will obviously go right into the wall

If you can get your left rear wheel to clip the curb when you turn in, it rotates your car very quickly. It’s hard to get it right every time, but you gain like .3-.5s with just that.

As a pad user, I ride the kerb a lot to help me round. It is difficult but practising will do the trick.

Are we talking about Lowes? I just mount the kerb on that one. Most of the kerbs in the games cost you time, but that's one of the few where it's almost impossible to take the corner without actually mounting the kerb.

Yep another humble pad user here it's difficult on this game but as has been said above you have to take a fair bit of kerb, there is kind of a sweet spot where if you hit it it pulls the car round a lot faster then would otherwise be the case.

I'll have to try that next time. I've gotten corner cutting on the past for hitting that curb too hard

As much as I dislike Monaco on 17, I have to say I love Azerbaijan. Such a great track. More freedom than Monaco, and it makes Singapore look boring.. Everything you want out of a high speed urban street course.

Hasn't been called Loews for years :) That hotel was sold in 1998, and became the Grand Hotel. (Since 2004 it's been the Fairmont, though the corner is usually still called the Grand Hotel hairpin...)

I'm a pad user, and I used to hate Monaco and Singapore, but with some practice, I'm decent enough at Monaco (managed a pole/FL/race win in like a 20 player online lobby and can play offline with 110AI; ABS assist).

But man, I have fallen in love with the other street tracks like Baku and Singapore lately. They really reward pushing that bit harder on braking points and whatnot a lot, compared to others online and the AI. Other circuits, theres a "quickest path" that many take, and its more about just not making mistakes to hook up a clean lap. But in Singapore and Baku, its more on who dares brake the latest. It's pretty easy to do a clean but slow lap, but its a real test of skill to do a clean and properly quick lap.

I use controller on PS4, I find mounting kerb with enough power to slightly slide around helps, this generally isn't great for the tyres but as its so slow a corner I can get away with it enough, takes a little getting used to but there is a sweet spot that'll get you around it easy enough. Just don't get greedy or the penalty will be that much worse ;)
Make sure you make the most of the whole width of the track on the entrance to the hairpin also, a very slight lock up of the rears will assist your turn further if needed. Tyre care can be rectified by being extra careful along the rest of the circuit. At least you'll make the corner every time.

I usually try to do a wide entry. Tends to get the car pretty close to the exit wall, but I get around fine.

I've always called it Loews aswell. Anyway my tip is to hit the ride the curb as everyone has said. Another thing is to change some controller settings, ik quite a few people on pc who have changed their controller settings just for Monaco. I think they tend to change Steering saturation, I will come back and edit if not

The Lowes turn was a big headache for me. Driving around Monaco with a pad is hard anyway but this is the 1st time I've ever experienced the car not being able to turn completely without grazing the wall. I know the corner needs a slow entry but when racing, it's not easy to keep a slow speed around 50km/h. Driving over the kerb helps but with a pad, it's never easy to be precise when compared to a wheel.

Where could I find the setting for this?

Most of the commentators still call it the Lowes hairpin. So the name still sticks for me. :D

It works just right but require s a bit of patience and dexterity. Recall this is the slowest corner in F1 and has to be taken in 1st gear using the correct approach.  My beef is when the MP4/4 on Monaco! For me that car is hardly capable of being driven on Monaco with a willingness to constantly overs steer when under acceleration.

If You fail in the invitational event You don't lose anything but if You pass the event, You get a good amount of bonuses & resource points.

As You guys must be aware, there's either a checkpoint race or beat all the drivers on the grid. Since all the times, we'll be driving a historic car, getting used to its handling would take 1 or 2 tries. I've only cleared the invitational event once at Monza where I had to finish 9 kms before the time finished. It was a checkpoint race. I had 5 or 6 tries before I cleared the goal. I struggle more at beating the drivers on the grid as the car needs to get used to as in handling before being successful in making overtakes. Also the number of laps are so few, mostly 3.

I enjoy the invitational events but passing it in 1 go seems quite impossible for me. The reward for passing the event is good though.

Saturation in game will do the trick. Depending what controller/wheel you use, you can probably set the turn radius to 270/280 degrees. On my Fanatec I have a special setup just for Monaco and have no problems in the hairpin. Going wide before you turn in also helps as long as there is no one behind you who could benefit from opening the door.
