[Confirmed] F1 2018 release date and new features announced

Recommended Posts

Just seen this on reddit... https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/8jk8si/codemasters_f1_2018_video_game_releases_on_august/

I know its not been officially announced just yet but it appears that a Greek gaming website has leaked details of F1 2018, including some of the features and the release date of 24th August 2018.

Here is the link (appears to have been taken down)... http://www.gameover.gr/news/37544-anakoinothike-to-f1-2018

Are there any people on here that speak Greek and could translate the webpage?

Do you think this is just false and inaccurate or do you think there could be some truth in the websites information on the upcoming F1 game?

Here is a translation of the webpage using google translate...

A few minutes ago, Codemasters and Koch Media, through a press release, announced this year's F1 Series title. The F1 2018 is expected to be released for PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in the coming August and more specifically on the 24th of the month, the weekend of the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa circuit. Codemasters promises an expanded career mode, more classic cars as well as other improvements to be revealed before the tournament of the title.

Follows the press release of the company

Codemasters and Koch Media have announced that the F1 2018, the FIA's official F1 world championship video game, will absorb players in the Formula 1 world more than ever. The F1 2018 will be released worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PCs (DVD and through Steam) on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Belgian Grand Prix weekend at the historic Spa-Francochamps.

"We were delighted with the reception received by the world-recognized and F1 2017 critics and we are glad that we have the opportunity to rely on this title as the springboard of the F1 2018," said Paul Jeal, director of the Codemasters F1 franchise. "In recent years, we have been busy communicating with the community to understand what is important to them and we are looking forward to revealing more details about the features we know lovers will love. Career mode has been broadened to absorb players in the F1 world more than ever before, with the return of a highly sought-after feature. We also add more classic cars, listening to the fans again in relation to F1's historic cars that are most likely to want to go on afterwards. In addition to these important additions, there are many other great improvements that will be revealed before the release of the game. "
The 2018 season has been delightfully defeated by Scuderia Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in both Australia and Bahrain, and is now owned by Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull Racing in China. Lewis Hamilton then won an exciting and dramatic race in Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan and Hamilton won the Spanish Grand Prix again on the previous weekend. The 2018 season also sees the return of the French Grand Prix for the first time since 2008 at the Circuit Paul Ricard on a track that last hosted a race in 1990. The German Grand Prix also returns to the championship after being removed from the program last year, with the Hockenheimring hosting a match in July. The F1 2018 will include all official teams, drivers and slopes this season.

I would really like to see some kind of newspaper or something like that. I remember in F1 2014 if you achieved a milestone, there'd be a loading screen saying for example: "Bla Bla claims 25th career victory". Records are a big deal in F1. Yes, I can track my wins and podiums myself and go onto Wikipedia and see if I've broken any records. But  I want the game to tell me.
Winning the title should be a much bigger deal than a few doughnuts after the race you claimed your WDC. It's a huge deal, the game makes it come across like it's not.
Cooldown lap, manual driving into Parc Fermé would add to career mode immersion as well. Another big deal to me would be trophies. The trophies your driver lifts on the podium are so generic. They don't HAVE to be exactly like the real ones of each track. Just make different ones for each circuit. So it's actually a bigger deal to win one. Like in F1 2006 you had a trophy room, where you could see your car in the middle surrounded by your trophies in some sort of cabinet. I remember back then the trophy from Magny-Cours eluding me and driving extra well just to claim it for myself.

Another thing I would LOVE to see, but doubt would happen due to licensing is an adjustable calendar.
As in, if you drive multiple seasons in your career mode, it's always the same. Give us an option to edit that season's calendar before each season so we can either move races around. Or add old tracks such as India, Korea, San Marino, France, Turkey, etc. But limit it to for example you can only make 2 changes. Just so that the game doesn't become "stale" once you get into like your 5th season.

Exactly this. All of those suggestions would be awesome to see in F1 2018.

I do think the title “make headlines” and also the comment in the press release that says “Career mode has been further expanded to immerse players even deeper into the world of F1 than before, with the return of a highly requested feature back into the franchise.“,
...
definitely seems to hint very strongly that CM plan to bring back and rework the press conferences and interviews from F1 2010. I guess newspaper articles could also work hand in hand along with that  :)
