Internet connection and single player

Will I need internet connection to play the game?
Also would be interesting to know if the add on content like new game modes, cars or tracks will be also able in the single player mode.
Nowdays, all game developers forget about the single player offline modes...
Im lvl 40 in the beta, and I think it is very addictive, but if it is an always online game, or the single player does not get updates, I will not buy it.
