Adding friends?

Ok so how adding friends work with codemasters account? I connected account to steam and some of friends were added by itself but not everyone. I mean is it random or it add guys which logged recently to codemasters and are on my friend list? I don't think it works properly anyway. It added guy which even dont know he has codemasters account so how could he add me to friends? But friend with which im playing almost everyday didnt add by itself.
