Fuel Load Issue.

Recommended Posts

On certain race weekends during career mode when I go to set my race strategy, the lowest amount of fuel I can start with will sometimes still be several laps over target, making my car heavier at the start obviously. Why is this? I run all practice programs and ace the fuel every time. Also I have to spend alot of time in rich mix burning it off so engine wear comes faster as well.

I'm not sure if the race fuel load is actually based on the fuel test or if it's actually determined by the race strategy test. My thought is that the race strategy helps set your pit strategy and your fuel load and the fuel test is simply for resource points testing your ability to conserve fuel.

Not entirely certain but I believe that I've gotten higher starting fuel loads when I've done race strategy in rich. Also doing the programs in the rain will also give you a higher than normal fuel usage.

The race-strategy-test will determine the "default"/preset fuelload in career mode. Drive in the race-strategy-test the same way you will drive in the race.(if possible due to weather) Like that the fuel you will need in the race matches quite good with the preset fuelload.  It's not exactly correct, as the fuel-usage is different with on highfuel then low fuel.(Due to higher weight of car laptime will be higher and so will fuel-usage) But this should only be slightly, so just pussing a little bit more then preset made with race-strategy-test will do the job fine.

This can't be true. Are there any official Statements about it? I drive the race strategy test absolutely the same like in race except fuel mix is set to Standard and i got -5laps fuel in strategy?

Just how it is sometimes, what circuits does it happen at?
I've been playing for awhile now but the current career mode I'm doing I've just made it to japan. So far Spain, Silverstone, Hungary, Malaysia and Japan have all made me start with at least 4 laps over target. Sometimes up to 6. Really a pain, especially If you're driving a weaker car.

Yeah if you are given -5 laps of fuel when running the strategy test on standard you are expected to run +5 laps of fuel if you run the race on standard. Sometimes you use more fuel than expected though. If you're unhappy with the fuel load you can just add some.

When I go to Race Strategy, the fuel load is always lesser than the amount of laps. I can't recollect where but when I used to not alter the fuel load, I ran out of fuel. So now as a safety measure, I increase the fuel load above the number of laps atleast. I know I'm heavier at the start but due to additional fuel, I can run on rich mix more often, considering I'm in a Sauber in my 3rd season!

Is there any way to find out how much fuel I burnt or need during a lap?

Understood the game mechanics and fuel change, but i'm not satisfied with implementation of fuel calculation. But this is only a minor Problem.

What i'm interested in is the grade of simulation. Is there any other tactical possibility for beeing fast as overload fuel and drive mostly in rich mode? All what i have seen on YouTube up to now is all guys overload there car and driving mostly in rich mode. I have never seen someone how use less fuel to spare some weight and drive more in lean mode.

I think there is a lot of improvement for this game and i would like to have a more detailed view into correlation of fuel load - tyre wear - lap times together with the engineer ingame.

Yeah I always get annoyed when the engineer panics every time you dive into negative fuel rather than calculating overall usage and letting you know where you'll end up in fuel usage. The game kind of thinks that deep in practice but they haven't really added that thinking into the actual race situation.
