F2

Is F2 going to be in 2018? I’ve been asking for a feeder series for years now.

It's FORMULA 1 2018, not Motorsport Simulator 2018. I personally don't want F2 or any other feeder series in the game.
And don't start with "Yeah, but MotoGP games have Moto3 and Moto2 in them" Who cares? It's not same, MotoGP license comes with all feeder series, because they are part of the MotoGP series. F2 is not, and it's totally independent racing series. Even though the races are driven on the same venue with F1 races.

F2 would make career mode much more realistic and immersive. The results in F2 would change which teams offer you the step up to F1. Also there should be the option to combine a race seat in F2 with an F1 3rd driver role. Career mode needs this. F2 is a great series and should be in F1 2018.

I am all for an F2 game separate from F1. Just find a way to award points to F2 drivers that will be recognized in F1. Get points get a seat. In the meanwhile all the new drivers can get good enough to race F1 and not be such a burden to experienced drivers in F1. The thought of 2 series in one game would be a nightmare to download ....100gb give or take.

Codemasters F1 games will never include any feeder series unless they acquire the license, in which case the game wouldn't be called F1. It would probably be called "FIA Formula Racing" or something like that.

No, it wouldn't make the career mode "much more realistic and immersive", because it's it's own brand, acquiring the licence to the car(s), drivers and teams would mean more expense for Codemasters.

However, if, note IF Codemaster's would have licence to add F2 into F1 game, the game would need more time to be developed, there would be 2 totally different series in the game, that would need their own handling model. All this means more work. And you really want them to have more stuff to fix, when the stuff would be bugged/glitched, like the games tend to be these days?

F2 being great series doesn't mean, that it should be included to official F1 game.
Like I already said, it's F1 2018, not Motorsport Simulation 2018.

If we weren't on this yearly cycle nonsense there's no reason they couldn't implement a much more immersive career and be THE open wheel racing game. Its slightly niche right now, appeals mostly to F1 fans. Formula 1 is the brand. Not 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.

Problems with gaining licenses for junior categories? Fudge them. Nothing wrong with a little choice. Some of the greatest racing I've had was in the little formula C's in pCars, everything was about momentum with limited horsepower.

A season or two in lower classes with test for next class up and then F1, or win the Junior category win an F1 Abu Dhabi test. They had something like that before but it didn't include any of the feeling of achievement to get to the test.

Can they auto retire old drivers and have the rivals built in the lower formula also end up on the grid? Man, the possibilities.

Many sport games include lower categories or series. NBA did it, and it didnt call itself Basketball 17. Moto GP does it. NFL 18 etc. a lot of games do it and it only makes the story better. I understand the development time thing but saying that it shouldnt be in the game cause it is called an F1 game is just a bad argument.

I don't care about NBA, the sport sucks I don't care about NFL either. MotoGP, again, has "feeder series" because Moto2 and Moto3 are part of MotoGP brand. F2, like I said, is not part of F1 brand, it is it's own brand, thus it would cost more money to include the series to the game, and if it indeed ever would be included, it wouldn't be called F1 20XX, it would be called FIA Formula Racing or something like that, like peyt0n89 already stated. Like I earlier stated, don't bring MotoGP games into this, as it's whole lot different ball game. Also, NBA and NFL games are made by far larger companies, that has more cash to spend to their games. Again, totally different case.

And there isn't a "story" on F1 game. It doesn't belong to the game, and therefor, it doesn't need anything to make the "story" better.
